The Settha Palace is a beautiful colonial-style building, spotlessly clean, and with a large swimming pool.
The room we were initially shown to was very small. After some discussion with the front desk, we were shown to a bigger room which we accepted. I initially thought it might have been a different type of room, but on checking their website it lists only "deluxe rooms", and then suites. It's odd, given the hotel was so quiet, management didn't want to give as good an impression as possible of their hotel by offering us the best available room, but I put that down to the inexperience of the young staff.
Breakfast buffet was very limited - they told us if was off season - but eggs were cooked to order; and some of the staff had very limited English.
Overall, recommended for a one night stay. Let's face it, most tourists don't seem to spend even one night in Vientiane, but this hotel is a nice introduction to the country.More
