“Perfect place for Lao food for beginners”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2013 via mobile

I have just arrived to Lao and don't know the various dishes and how spicy they might be. Lao kitchen has a menu that explains the dishes in English and indicates the level of spicy with 1-3 chili symbols. When taking the order the waiters ask if you like the dish spicy or not. This gave me the chance to try Laap, one of the traditional dishes without burning my mouth that can handle a little spicy, but not too much. I liked it, but unfortunately I can not give an opinion on the quality of the dish as I don't really know what it is supposed to taste like. On me the restaurant made a very good impression. I recommend it to people who like me don't know much about the typical cuisine and want to get to know it.

“Not bad”

could be a little bit tricky to find if you dont stay around the corner, but the food was delicious and were quite generously portioned. Service is what makes the place though!

“high quality traditional lao food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

During a recent visit to Vientiane we kept going back to the Lao Kitchen restaurant for dinner because every time we went the meal was enjoyable, the service excellent and the menu extensive enough to provide us with a different choice of meal on every occasion . Lao Kitchen offers excellent value for money with the average price for 2 large beers and dinner for 2 people being around £10.

The sort of dishes we enjoyed were as follows,

river weed dried with sesame seed
banana flowers, pork, egg wrapped in sheets of rice noodles
fish slices seasoned with fish sauce and lime juice
mango, sticky rice and coconut dessert

One word of caution - some nights the restaurant is extremely busy particularly around 7 p.m. so it is advisable to book a table and/or note that if the downstairs area is full, there is another eating space upstairs.

“stunning food in Laos”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2013

This restaurant offers a great variety of typical Laos food. It's a nice decor and lovely atmosphere.
The staff is very friendly and efficient. They do not speak fluently English, but the menu is in English and explains very well what is in the various dishes.
One thing should be the hero is the food. All in all amazing. We had the luang prabang buffalo stew and the chicken curry, both was excellent!
Prices are not cheap, but worth it.

“Very Rude Servicd”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2013

Be prepared, attracted by the good reviews I tried to eat here. There were several empty tables and it was 20.00hrs on a Sunday night. The staff claimed that the place was full. The other customers appeared to be getting well lubricated. Perhaps they did not want to waste a cover on a single traveller, perhaps they were concerned that I would not enjoy the experience given how boisterous the full tables were, Perhaps they had run out of food to cook, who knows I was given no explanation as to why empty and unreserved tables existed and the place was full. The staff were rude, unfriendly and claimed to be full despite the empty and unreserved tables being pointed out to them. Perhaps they just don't want to serve solo travellers ...

Perhaps the staff had had enough and merely wanted to go home earlier, but this place can deliver a terrible as well as an excellent experience.
