“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2014

We really enjoyed our stay at this wonderful hotel. The staff were truly friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived to the manager and 2 staff waving us goodbye as we left! The room was comfortable, clean and the decor was a great mix of Laotian and modern, as was the rest of the hotel. The location was excellent for our needs, very central in Vientiane and easy to access all the various sights. The night market is at the end of the street and the local Tuk Tuks were great, (just remember to barter with them!!). There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance with a variety of cuisines. The limonsine service to and from the airport was impeccable. Front desk staff were extremely helpful and even remembered everyones names! Breakfast was great with a good selection and fresh eggs made to your liking! Only one let down was a male staff member tried to rip us off on a bar bill, which we realised straight away, and he had to rectify it immediately.
We would most definitely stay here again and would recommend it to everyone.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back and lower floors dont have balconies, although this is not an issue, but we though...

Truly one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in! I'm not usually the kind of person to rave about good service, but the service at Salana Boutique Hotel really made an impact on me. The staff were just so genuinely nice - no forced smiles at all.

Everything, from the lobby to our room, had a feeling of authenticity with local artwork and Lao wood. Our bed was amazingly comfortable (definitely not always so in Asia!), and overall this hotel just has a lot of character in addition to being immaculate.

Spent our last 2 nights in Laos in this hotel to give ourselves a little bit of luxury before heading home.

it was definitely worth it. The hotel and rooms were lovely, very plush but not over the top. Room was tremendous, great big comfy bed and plenty of space. Staff were friendly and attentive and the location is just ideal. Close enough to everything in central Vientiane but it feels like it is hidden away from the hustle.

We also pushed the boat out a little and firstly got a hotel car to take us out to the Buddha Park...expensive but beats taking a tuk tuk all the way there. Also indulged in a two hour massage which was fantastic. Again that was a bit more expensive than one on the street but worth the extra coin for the touch of luxury added to it.

Breakfast was fairly good, another solid buffet style with plenty of options and the little verandah bar is also nice to sit and watch the sun go down (although their Mojito was less than average)

However, upon checkout the charge for the drinks (two cocktails and a coke) we had from that bar the night before were clearly incorrect. A simple overcharge is not exactly a massive issue however they looked out the room receipts to double check and the one receipt that I did sign was nowhere to be seen. Now two receipts were in its place and logged at times when we were not even in the bar (one was logged for earlier which I still cant get my head around). The most disturbing part of this was that the signature at the bottom of these receipts was not my signature but a poor forgery.

So, had someone been illicitly charging extras to our room?? Or had the bar man just made a stuff up with the original charge, tried to cover his tracks but ended up stuffing it even more?? I like to think the latter purely because the amount of money involved amounted to barely NZD $10, and between both of the receipts the drinks were those that we ordered but we had been double charged. However, it is still pretty bad form to forge a signature.

The staff member assured me they would look into why it occurred and corrected the total bill so I was happy with that, but the principal of the situation annoyed me greatly. Although that left a bit of a sour taste when we left the overall experience was great. Plus, would I stay there again? Yes I would. This incident just makes me more aware to always check everything, then check it again!

Lovely hotel with nice character - beautiful building. As far as location this is the best spot in Vientiane. The only thing that is annoying is the slooooow check in. Soooo slooooow. To me this is the worst thing that hotels do. Be ready for me before I arrive please. Breakfast is mediocre, but bread is delicious. Get the pink lemonade and sit on the patio in the evening to people watch.

Its location and rooms are superb, considering it is in a socialist country. The rooms are spacious and the hotel is close to the Mekong. There are many good restaurants in the area, especially French ones for those who do not like the local cuisine. The hotel also provides a car which will take you to all the temples and museums in Vientiane, it costs about $15/hour.

Room Tip: The rooms shown on the website are deceptive, they are larger than the real one's.

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights for new year's holiday. Everything including the location, the equiment and the service are good, however, one of our rooms which faces the elevator is a little bit small and noisy, but still acceptable.
People working there are very friendly, especially the lovely girl at the reception who speaks very good English. By the way, her name is Orlaphan.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the elevator and the street is a little bit small and noisy.

We have stayed at the Salana twice now and love it even more after the second time. The hotel is so beautiful. The rooms are clean, nicely decorated, and well maintained with very comfortable beds. The staff is so nice and helpful. This time we arrived from the airport at 930am (well before checkin time) and our rooms were ready. We always make sure to visit the spa and have never had to wait even when we don't have an appointment. The included breakfast is one of the best I have had in SE Asia!! The rest of their menu is very tasty as well.
The hotel has a perfect location, its about a 2 min walk to the night market and a short walk from multiple handicraft stores. Waking up to the Monks chanting is very cool and unique experience. We will stay here anytime we are in Vientiane.
