This was a nice place to stay in Vientiane - good location near to river and overlooking a wat and walking distance or cycle ride to other locations. Modern Lao decor and great place to sit (and escape some water fighting during PiMai) from the lounge bar balcony. You might need to check on your breakfast order a couple of times just to see what is happening. Agree a pool would be nice to cool down after a hot day exploring but for a short stay in a city it's not a problem and the spa was also a good alternative. Salana - thanks for a nice stay!

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room overlooking the war.

We found the service here disappointing, the staff not very helpful. The breakfast which is included in the room rate was below standard. Poor staff training, low quality breakfast food, two choices of fruit selection, low quality bread and croissants. Only thing good Saeco coffee machine!
After a lovely stay at Kiridara Villa in Luan Prabang, where everyone was friendly and helpful, we found the city cousins lacking.....

Stayed at Salana for 4 nights and enjoyed good service - staff were very polite and helpful. The location was also fantastic with a very central location. Price is relatively high but for the uninitiated (like me in Laos for the first time) was a 'safe' choice in terms of reliability and quality based on Tripadvisor recommendations. May be tempted to shop around on the basis on price if visiting Vientiane again as I suspect market is becoming more competitive

Room Tip: Pick a room on the upper floors

The salama is an excellent choice to stay in Vientiane. The location is in city center and close to the Mekong river. The night market is just a hundred meter away. In general Vientiane is a great city. Not hectic and with a French twist. The people are very friendly and you feel safe. We had a suite and the room was good with the usual facilities. The view to the Mekong and the balcony was great. The breakfast was just average nothing special ( the ordered omelette was the smallest I have ever seen). The minus point is that there is no pool. This would be a great feature after a hot day in the city. The price is not cheap but the service is great as well.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights.
The hotel located nearby Mekong river where you can get the signal of Thai mobile phone operators.
I also use meeting facilities here and the services is good.
The room is new and clean but wi-fi is poor.
Breakfast is OK.
The price is quite high compared with the room, location and services.

We only stayed at this hotel for one night but the rooms are beautiful, location Central and the breakfast really good with lots of choice. But what I was really impressed with was the service. We were in Phnom Penh before arriving in Vientiane and were then leaving on a 2 day Laos overland tour. Before I had even arrived in Vientiane the hotel had called the tour company on my behalf to confirm for me. It is these kinds of unprompted "nothing will is too much trouble" gestures that made this hotel stand out.

We have stayed here a few time in both the standard rooms & the suite.
Check in is consistently easy with the staff speaking good English.
The location is in the heart of vientiane: near the night markets, bars on the river, the fountain and restaurants.
The rooms are clean. The standard rooms arent overly spacious so I would recommend upgrading. The suite is spacious with large bathroom, huge bed, lounge room & large desk/sitting area.
They go out of their way to organise anything you need - cars, ironing, bags etc
I've been to a lot of spas in vientiane & the salana gives a great massage - recommended.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a boutique option in Vientiane!
