“A mixed bag, but no fleas or bedbugs”
Reviewed March 7, 2012

Pros: location, cleanness of rooms (I had my own bathrom), price (€ 13 through Agoda).
Cons: blood stained bedsheets (must have come from bedbugs, but none while I was there), smelly towels, completely uninterested personnel.
There are better places to go to.

We stayed in a double room, on the ground floor to the right of the main entrance. Paying 120,000 kip per night(£10). Ended staying for 3 nights so it wasn't all that bad.

I think detailing the room location is important as there are reports of and therefore clearly problems with bed bugs. From the other reviews these appear to be located in the shared dorm areas and therefore should be avoided at all costs until the manager does something about it.

Our room was medium sized and the bed was comfortable, although we got no sleep the first time waiting to be attacked by the bugs which thankfully never came!

For the price we found it a decent place to stay but not ideal.

The room itself was not particlarly clean. The bathroom was pretty dirty, and there was blood and hair on the bed sheets. The room was not cleaned properly before we got in and it was never cleaned throughout our stay.

The aircon was quite noisy and eventually started to leak onto the bed sheet so we turned it off and used the fan.

The location is good and only a short walk to the riverfront. We heard other travellers complaining of the wi-fi and so a top tip would be that there is a really helpful tourist information office on the same street as the hotel with free internet access!

Worth considering if travelling on a budget but clearly not ideal.

Room Tip: Avoid the dorms!!!!!

I booked a single room with bathroom on agoda where it is slightly cheaper. For the price, it is a good place to stay. The staff are friendly and speak good English, and my room was fine. The bed was comfy, the pillows are big and firm, and my bed was double sized. The bathroom had been cleaned but could do with a real scrub - bit mildewey. The aircon was also a bit noisy but I didn't need it on anyway - there was a fan as well. The wifi was free and reliable. Their laundry service is 10,000 kip per kg and if you give it to them in the morning (and it isn't raining) it will be ready by 3pm. It is in a great location - lots of cafes nearby and only a very short walk to the riverfront - go in the evening to see the sunset and browse the cheap night market.

Hi all!

Well to put it simple: do not go there. It might be cheap. But you can get better for the same price!

Pros:
Uh really ?! Pros? .... hmmm .... hot roommates? :D
Ok the mattress was comfy but wait....what is this thing in the mattress...omg! Bed buuuuuuuuuuuuuuugs!

Cons:
Dirty
Horrible shower/toilets to share
Room is awful
Can't regulate the aircon
BED BUGSSSSS
No safe and simple wooden door
Window that cant close and is actually opening on a corridor

So how did I end up in this place? Well it was very late when I arrived in Vientiane, it was in the Lonely Planet....just a mistake and we stayed only one night.

Stayed here recently as found in lonely planet. Not as good as they say. Rooms were good size, bathroom could do with decorating and a thorough clean- chuck out the bath mats! Most noise came from the staff and not other residents. Changed rooms and staff were fairly helpful. Beds hard but no bugs! There are better guesthouse available nearby.

This place is awful. It's recommended in the lonely planet but don't go. Got awful bed bugs and the people knew it. They asked of we wanted to switch rooms and suggested that the room upstairs was ok because no one had complained before. My response obviously was so people have complained about our room before? The man immediatly responded yes. Didn't even care. I now have red welts from head to toe just like my 2 roommates. They had no desire to do anything about the bugs and basically ignored us as we walked out the door.

Staff dont care much, they will not discount for over a week stay.
you can for sure find a much better place for the same money.
The more expensive double rooms on the first floor are now renovated and are ok but they dont deserve the added price.

Room Tip: ask for renovated rooms if you can afford.. and if you must stay there...
