“Typically expensive and noisy”
Reviewed January 5, 2011

We stayed here over New Year and were glad to have found a nice hotel like Sinnakhone. We flew to Wattay Airport and the hotel offered a pick-up service for $7 total from the airport to the hotel which was great. The room and bathroom were a great size and breakfast was included in the price. The hotel is in a great location, only a 5 minute walk from most of the temples and over sights in the area. Negatives - we booked a twin room and got a massive king sized bed with a small single bed (for small children judging by the pattern on the duvet cover!); the beds were really hard so we didn't get the best nights sleep when we were staying here; the road outside can be noisy at night with motorbikes and music from the bars/restaurants across the road (our room faced directly on to the street so maybe other rooms at the back would be ok); it was expensive although we are aware that Vientiane is expensive in general, although this hotel charges 8,500 kip for 1 dollar so maybe avoid paying in dollars! I paid half and half and got charged 8,500 kip per dollar which is ridiculous. Overall, this hotel was a nice play to stay for New Year as we were close to the celebrations but it was definitely not value for money.

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel over New Year's, Booked directly through the hotel via email and got large room with windows overlooking Francois Ngin street for 180,000KIP per night including breakfast and 2 bottled waters per day.
Pros: good location off the main drag but near lots of restaurants, shops, etc., simple breakfast of fried eggs, white toast, porridge, coffee/tea included in room rate (one day they had fried rice instead)
Cons: no wifi in room (5th floor) only in lobby, unmarked nightclub next door kept us awake the first two nights and then was apparently closed the remaining two, large bed but maybe hardest I’ve slept on yet on our RTW trip plus top sheet was not big enough to cover both of us, open shower means entire bathroom floor is wet most of the time

Due to the UXO conference being on when we were there, we had to work our way down the pecking order until we found a vacancy and we are so glad we ended up here. Stayed 3 nights; Kip170,000 per night included a basic breakfast. A/C, fridge and T V. Very big clean room on the 5th floor (but it had a lift!). Hanging space for clothes in an open wardrobe. Bathroom an adequate size, but no shower curtain. Wi-Fi in the restaurant. Minor complaint that the mattress was made from concrete (but that seemed to be the case with many beds in SE Asia). We thought it well situated, central with lots of good coffee shops and restaurants in the street and adjoining streets. The staff were extremely helpful when our transport (‘Jumbo’) didn’t turn up to take us to the sleeping bus making several phone calls ensuring that the bus did not go without us.. All in all very good value for money. I would stay there again

This is more like an inn with a simple breakfast (toasts & eggs) included. With a rate of between US$19 for a double/twin room without window and US$23 for an extra large double with window, I was delighted to find an elevator in this 5-floor building. Although the staff always quote the room rates in US$, the amount in Kipp is used as the final amount for payment, so there may be some currency conversion differences.

Some of the staff are a little inexperience but are friendly and willing to help. The van hire provided is also much cheaper than what I found elsewhere in the city.

Clean rooms & bathrooms, fresh towels, strong hot/cold showers, and effective A/C. The mattresses may be uncomfortably hard for some. Sound insulation is not very good so you'll hear whatever is taking place outside your room.

No pubs with loud music and no side streets with busy traffic next to the hotel.

One of the days during my stay, the cleaners forgot to replenish the drinking water and replace the towel after removing the used towel. They were quick to respond after I informed them.

The location is central as this hotel is within 4 minutes of walking to the Mekong river, 10 minutes of walking to the museum in one direction & the fountain in another direction where the western restaurants & cafes are, and 20 minutes of walking to the morning market. There are restaurants, cafes, pubs, massage shops, laundry shops, handicraft & silk shops, a medical clinic, and a bank with an ATM & a currency exchange kiosk near the hotel.

The Wi-Fi range is very limited but there is a computer in the lobby for free internet access.

If you want a break from backpacker's hostels but don't want to spend too much for a hotel, this is the place.

Like others, I too found online booking sites charging more than the walk-in rates. I booked my rooms directly via sinnakhonehotel@gmail.com.

I have been stay at Sinnakhone Hotel in the october for a few day and really ejoued my stay. I didn't have much time for booking. A simple email to the staff allowed me to reserve a room for 2 days later. On arrival the staff welcomed me and I felt like coming home.
Whatever your request can be, the staff is very helpful and will search a solution.
The rooms are nice and clean.it is the ideal place if you want to visit the city .

I reviewed this place before, and that review still stands. But I have more info for anyone looking to stay here, based on our return visit a few months later. We made our reservation online (via a popular hotel booking website) for $30 a night. When we arrived they couldn't find that reservation, so they quoted us 170,000 kip/night (about $21). They found our reservation the next day, and reinstated the $30/nt charge. We tried to get them to give us the lower price that we were quoted when we arrived, but they told us that due to the fees the booking website charges them for each reservation, they had to charge the $30/nt. In they end they dropped it to $28 a night, after a lot of discussion (I felt bad though because apparently the person who made the mistake has to pay the booking fees out of pocket...). So! I highly, HIGHLY recommend NOT booking online - just call them or show up unannounced. It is a good hotel, but the online booking price is 50% more than the walk-in price. Just a word of warning.
