Hotel Khamvongsa
Ranked #2 of 201 Vientiane B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence

There’s a reason Hotel Khamvongsa is ranked number one on Tripadvisor! It is a fantastic hotel – centrally located, clean, brilliant bathrooms (especially the showers) and great breakfasts. We were really impressed with the hotel and, in terms of value for money, must have ranked right up there in our 12 week trip through South East Asia.

I would high recommend eating dinner at Makphet – a superb restaurant down the road. We actually didn’t eat here but ate at an affiliated restaurant called Friends in Phnom Penh which was one of our best meals in our entire trip. Both restaurants are affiliated to Friends International – check out http://www.friends-international.org/shop/restaurants.asp - a NGO doing fantastic work in the region.

We came here by recommendation in our world-trip and it was just perfect for our Vientiane adventure: the rooms are clean and offer everything you need (incl free wifi), breakfat is good and the staff very helpful and nice. The Khamvongsa is perfectly situated in a quiet street but within walking distance to all the sights of Vientiane. Would definitely come back again!

Nice hotel nice room nice toilet for usd40. Insist on paying the third person for usd 10. Never have this problem in Luang Prabang and vang vieng. Please request for lower level room as climbing up the stairs can be really annoying after all day walking around. The breakfast is nice with a few ala carte option. Walking distance to the Mekong river, restaurant, pubs and night market. Excellent WiFi. No electricity in our room in the morning. Average staff with some smiling face.

Stayed there for 2 night. Clean simple accommodation. We stayed on the 3rd floor and note there is no lift. Room was spacious and spotless. Breakfast was nice and the laundry service reasonably priced. Our only complaint is that even though we had arranged it in advanced, they forgot to pick us up at the airport. Catching a taxi wasn't a problem, but waiting for 45 minutes in the heat wasn't great.

The hotel is close walking to the more touristy area of Vientiane with it's restaurants and bars. A stones throw from the Mekong river means you can stroll along the front in the daily night markets without needing a tuk tuk. Our room was spacious, in good condition and our only gripe being that the room wasn't 'sealed' and there were no mossie nets. A few bites later...

The room electrics are controlled by your key card which when removed turns everything off; the fridge, your pc charging, everything - this took a bit of getting used to as we were desperate to charge up after a long overland trip.

The staff are amenable and arranged a breakfast 'to go' when we had to depart for an early morning flight. Breakfast was included in our price and was substantial, so much so we often went without lunch.

Room Tip: We had a road facing room - depending on what you like, you will find this a little noisy or a real...

This small hotel offers comfortable, clean rooms with airconditioning and in-room safety box.. The hotel has a lovely athmosphere. Friendly staff. There is no elevator. Good breakfast with a variety of choices. Walking distance of major attractions.

Room Tip: There is no elevator, so try to book a room on the second floor.
