If you just need a bed to sleep, you can probably stay at the Khampiane Hotel.
I had a standard room, not much space. Mattress not comfortable, shower was broken (nobody came to fix), no hot water at the washbowl, internet was not working in room. Breakfast, acceptable but less than average.
Nothing really bad or terrible, but no charm at all. I am still trying to find out a good reason to stay there again... But i cannot find any.

The staff here are so friendly and always greet you with big smiles. It 's quite a small hotel and they seem to know all their guests and are reaching for your key as you walk in through the door!

The rooms are clean and nicely furnished, a downside is the bathroom is very small. Wireless internet is available in the rooms and is free.

For breakfast you choose from a selection from a tick list, the food is good but the choice is limited.

There is a lovely place next door to the hotel called Noy's Fruit Heaven. They have a wonderful selection of fruit shakes which are very cheap. They also serve good food.

If we return to Vientiane we would definately consider staying here again.

We stayed at the Khampiane Hotel during our tour of South East Asia with Intrepid Tours. The hotel is very nicely situated and one can walk all over town,to the Fountains(lots of restaurants)to the river, the National Museum(boring!)etc.Vientiane is a very relaxed and easy going city and we enjoyed the slowness of the pace of the city. The Khampiane has a nice entrance with lots of wood used for the exterior as well as for the furniture. There is a computer with an Internet connection in the entrance hall(free)which is a bit inconveniently situated.Breakfast room next to entrance, also with nice wooden furniture and bar.Breakfast was ok-the usual fruit, egg and bread. One can rent mopeds nearby to drive around town to visit some sites too far away for walking and offcause the tuk-tuks are everywhere and cheap. The rooms themselves are clean, equiped with fridge(Pepsi and water)As with most hotels we stayed in in S.E.Asia the bottled water left outside of the fridge each day,is free which is wonderful as normally hotels charge an excessive amount for bottled water on their premises. We had a room at the back of the hotel looking right against a cement wall.....but then we were only in the room for sleeping,so it did not bother as at all.All in all,I can recommend this hotel as a nice 3star property.
