“Comfort food”
Reviewed December 4, 2012

When spicy Lao food gets too much, try some Japanese style comfort food with meat & vege casseroles, etc.

“Tasty food in cosy ambiance”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

We went there because of the lonely planet review and were not disappointed. Simple but very tasty Japonese flavoured cuisine, divine homemade gingerale, and cosy and intimate ambiance. Plus the Japonese owners are lovely. Recommended.

“We do not know why they are closed...”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

...but we hope it is temporary. We passed by once when they were closed but in business and noted that their hours signboard said that they were open for lunch from (I think) 11-2 and for dinner 6 or 6:30-9:30. I made a special note of the dinner closing time because it is earlier than other restaurants that we were considering. Also, the sign said that they were closed on Sunday. We arrived for dinner at 6:30 on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, after trying to call for reservations since 5 pm with no pickup. They were closed tight and all signs taken in. There was no change in the place when we returned the next day for lunch. We hope this is a temporary closure and that all is okay with them. They are on the corner of two unnamed streets across from Wat Ong Teu and they are very closed to Makphet and L'Adresse de Tinay and other restaurants are a few minutes' walk away, so anyone interested in seeing if they are open has a 'plan B'.

“Classy cafe and good healthy food”
Reviewed August 31, 2012

Yulala has been around for years and it shows in the level of comfort and service provided by this restaurant. The food at face value doesn't seem like anything out of this world but the dish presentation is tasteful, simple, and very good. The seasoning used is subtle and light. The cafe/restaurant is run by a Japanese couple and the husband has a pretty keen eye for adding small touches to his dishes which make it shine. Western/Japanese fusion tends to be very hit or miss but everything in this cafe is done with such a great love for food and attention for detail. A simple stir fried pork vegetable meat dish and cold tomato/cream cheese dish is wonderfully refreshing especially if you like healthy foods without a lot of heavy fat, oil, or salt added. The cafe itself is tastefully decorated and has a homey atmosphere like you're eating in someone's home. This place is a must visit in Vientiane and there are many dishes on offer which cater to both vegetarians and people with more conventional tastes. The deserts (especially the creamy cheese cake) is something that you won't find elsewhere in this city.

“Simple and tasty”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

Other than a cosy atmosphere (shoe's off and sitting on the floor) the place attracts you with the simplicity of the menu and the taste of the food. All that is for very affordable price and served professionally.
