“awesome and delicious...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2013

The place itself is easy to find. It's a typical Asian style restaurant.Nothing fancy about the decor.
the most famous dish is Nam Nuang (Fried pork spring roll Vietnamese style). I have to admit that the food taste good, soft , tender & smell good as well. Price was fairly cheap. Service was fast & attentive. But it would be a more convenioent if you could communicate with them in Thai or Laos. English is working but some only.

“Vietnamese style food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2012

Also known as Dao Vieng, this is my second visit. Popular among locals, it has a limited menu. The meat sausage set and steamboat are the main attractions. I had the former, plus deep fried and fresh spring rolls, which was a mistake since the rolls are very similar in taste but with less meat compared with the sausage set. A piece of sausage meat is wrapped in rice paper, together with lettuce, rice noodles, raw bean sprouts, garlic, raw banana slices, chilli pepper, mint leaves, and several other local herbs and vegetables, dipped in one of 3 sauces, and popped into the mouth. The fresh squeezed orange and calamansi (lime) juice were excellent. The place is spartan and appeared clean, but we saw a roach suddenly appear on the table top crawling between the plates of food. Wonder how many other critters were hiding under the table surfaces! Prices are reasonable compared to other downtown restaurants catering to the tourist crowd, but not exactly cheap by local standards.

“Awesome food - couldn't stop eating”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2012

We tried the Neum nuoc - slow cooked pork sausage with fresh herbs as a wrap with lettuce or rice paper. It was one of the most delightful meals I had, anywhere. The basket of herbs include mint, basil, dill, lettuce, rice paper and 2-3 more which I could not recognize. The set also comes with a plate of cucumbers, bean sprouts, small chilli paddies and another groud type veggie. A small plate of rice noodles where also served. There are two sauces - brown and red, both with peanuts
We bundled little of everything and made a big wrap. The fragrance of the herbs instantly pops in your taste buds - matching perfectly with the sweet sauce. The meat was tender and juicy - but after a while a realized the wrap was great without the meat as well so I ate it all pretty much vegetable only.
From the picture we were afraid it would not be enough for two people so we ordered a plate of fresh spring rolls on top of the teo person portion - and soon realized a basket of herbs can go a long way. The fresh spring rolls were nice - but it's basically what neum nuoc is but wrapped before hand - so little point of ordering together.
It will be a shame to miss this establishment while visiting Vientiane

“dig in (literally) and enjoy!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2009

This was a very interesting dining experience. Though not typical Lao cuisine, it is lovely and quite tasty. It is set in a simple open air restaurant with neon lights. The menu is concise and simple. It consists of "sets" in which you either choose a combination of springrolls or sausage. You receive plates with fresh vegetables and lettuceleaves, fresh herbs, garlic, lemongrass etc. You wrap everything in lettuceleaves and dip it in 1 of 3 dipping sauces. Furthermore you can have a bubbling hot pot of coconutjuice in which you put either beefstrips or shrimp with eggs, thow in some veggies and herbs and then wrap everything up, dip and eat. In the end you eat the soup. LOVELY!
