“Cool place”
Reviewed June 3, 2014

This is a decent restaurant in the Center of Vientiane. The meals are not so elaborated but they are good. Cool for the lunch. Less for dinner.

“Standards dropping”
Reviewed June 2, 2014

Normally my cafe of choice but today very disappointed.
I've noticed recently that Wi-Fi has been very hit and miss, today though non existent and when I questioned the staff they simply weren't interested and I never got any assistance.
Coffee was also luke warm, I'm sure if I had complained it would have been changed but I didn't. Sandwich was normal standard and very good. What probably didn't help ( and this is not the fault of JOMA) was a group of 4 Chinese men with one of them talking constantly and very loud! The acoustics in the cafe are not great, any noise is amplified and this was ridiculous, I had to leave as I couldn't stand to be in there.
Shame because normally good.

“Unhealthy food, poor wifi”
Reviewed June 1, 2014

This cafe has a large food board, but it is hardly a health-food haven - the menu is dominated by bread, pastry or high-processed carbs - there is little to eat here that doesn't have high amounts of sugar, wheat or gluten in it - 3-4 salads and a couple of soups is about all.

The last 2-3 times I ordered the chilli soup I found a large lump of frozen, icy soup in the middle - it had obviously not been heated up long enough. It probably explains why the service at Joma is at least fast.

I used to go here at least 2-3 times a week for the wifi - but almost every time I have visited Joma in the past 2-3 months the wifi has been off or the password doesn't seem to work. Nobody seems to do anything to fix it. Unless you can pick up the signal from cafes next door - then don't bother. Common Grounds cafe a few streets away has much more reliable wifi.

“decent coffee and free wifi”
Reviewed May 27, 2014

Joma at Namphou is one of 3 Joma's in Vientiane city...this one is frequented mainly by business people, tourists and locals living nearby or shopping in town . All three offer the same menu so there are no surprises...western style sandwiches, soups, cakes and pastries....the banana cake is fantastic All day breakfast menu is a favourite. The coffee is good too and many choices of other beverages. From thanksgiving to just after Christmas Joma serves turkey and cranberry sandwiches with gravy...that could be on the menu year round...brilliant choice and not to be found anywhere else in town.
Situated right in the heart of town with free wifi and good service it is always busy ...so if it is good, comforting western style food in a cafe setting you are after then Joma is your place.
