“Good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2013

This is the fourth time we'd stayed here. Certainly not a flash joint, however we've always found it to be clean.
As other posters have said the location is good, two minute walk to the river and a variety of eating places to choose from.
Having a bath is a real luxury, as a lot of places at this price range only have a shower. They no longer give out the 2 free bottles of complimentary water, so bring your own.
We were on the second floor and although it has wi-fi for that floor, the signal is too weak for internet connection. Worked fine in the lobby connection though, and in the seated lounge area outside the front door of the hotel.
There aren't any really cheap hotels around this area anymore, forgetting the backpacker places. At the equivalent of 800 Baht. Thought it wasn't too bad

We stayed at Duang Duane Hotel for a night. We encounted two main problems. One minor the other major. The minor problem was, the floor in the room was dangerously slippery. Me and my partner slipped many times. If you are 60 or over or have small children, and you fell over on that hard floor, you might seriously hurt yourself.
However the major problem was checking out. When we went to check out the hotel staff went upstairs to check the mini bar. This took about 30 minutes without a word of why. Which was distressing because we had an  international flight 2 and a half later.  After getting sick of waiting with no information from the staff, we asked them to hurry up and why it was taking so long. Finally a staff member came down and told us loudly that the reason for the slow check out was that they had found blood on the bed sheet, unfortunately I had my period the night before . This was totally embarassing because there were other customers and staff members in the lobby where we were waiting. Then they told us that the sheet could not be cleaned in anyway. Given it is a big hotel I would have assumed they would have heard of bleach and various other cleaners. Then they told us to pay 62 USD to replace the top sheet in the room. What adds insult to injury is that the sheets themselves where already in bad condition (they had holes in the edges and jounts around the pillow slips) so perhaps they took advantage of the situation to get more money from us. I felt that 62 USD for a flat white top sheet was excessively expensive. Considering that we paid 200000 kip ( 25USD) for the room itself. I've never heard of hotels charging guests for blood stains from women's periods which is a natural human process, and I am sure they must have come across this many times before.  I thought the time it took, the manner with which they dealt with it and the resolution they came up with completely unacceptable. So I was very unhappy with the service and embarrassment i received in front of the other guests.

Room Tip: There are blinds on the balconies and you get no sunlight or view. Floor is very slippery. The hotel...

We stayed at the Douang Deuane hotel, not to be confused with the Douang Deuane 2 Guesthouse over the road.
We are travelling as a family of 5 and took two rooms (200k Kip each, including breakfast). They were spacious and clean and include air-conditioning, a fridge and a very good selection of TV channels. We arrived around midday having had a hot day the previous day and an overnight train and there was no problem checking in a bit early for a much needed shower.
The breakfast is a bit ordinary, the WiFi in our room very weak (had to sit near the door, but that's b/c we were at the end of the corridor), the staff are efficient rather than effusive, but the location is superb and I would certainly be happy to stay there again.

Now I don't expect much for 80k as I'd heard Vientiane is a touch more expensive but this place was a bit of a let down!

The room was very basic but on the face of it , it looked very clean, happy days! However after getting all checked in it became apparent that the room and hotel was far dirtier than it seemed! There was what was undoubtably dry blood on my quilt which hadn't been changed or cleaned from the previous quests stay and over the two nights we stayed the shower cubicles were covered in the same mess! Not very good is it!

The staff didn't really do anything productive but the location was decent! The Internet barely worked anywhere in the hotel!

All in all you will find far better in the area I'm sure!

The hotel is very basic but the location is near restaurants, the mekong river, etc..

The room feel is old, has an unpleasant smell to it. Air condition is old and noisy.
Bed sheets and pillow case.... bring your own.

Advise:
Bring your own towel and toiletries.
Don't drink the water they provide in a recycle plastic bottles.
Come down early for breakfast as they don't replenish the food.
Don't stay more then one night if you have to stay here.

I stayed here 1 night before heading north of Laos. We arrived at around 10 am and they allowed us to check in early with no problems. The room we stayed in was a decent size and comfortable, and it was nice to have a balcony. There are plenty of restaurants around the hotel. Would stay here again.

Our medical mission team from our church stayed here in February 2008. The rooms were very clean and had a great view of the city from our balcony. Restaurants are nearby along the the Mekong River just down the street. The hotel staff were pleasant to work with. Sorry this review is a little late but our stay here in 2008 was superb.

Room Tip: 2nd floor with the balcony facing the street
