Awesome. Spent about 3 hours here and could have spent more. A really interesting well set up multi media experience which delved into background of the causes of Laos' prosthetic needs, as well as who is involved, what they do and where. We loved the hands on approach to the exhibition and the great layout, not to mention the excellent documentaries we watched and the welcome A/C in April heat. Proceeds from ice cream (chocolate flavour is amazing) and coffee sales go to help the centre (which is free to enter BTW although everyone should donate to such a worthy cause). Best thing we did in Vientiene by a mile and easy to get to on foot and by bike.

It was really hard and sad to see how people, especially children, were and are still affected by the landmines that were thrown into Laos by the U.S. during the Vietnam War - It's great to see that there are people here helping out the victims and teaching them how to avoid landmines

One of the best musea I have been to! If you want to learn something about the secret war in Laos, go here! Entrance is free. Almost everybody knows about the vietnam war, but what many people don't know is that Laos is the most bombed country in the world. During the vietnam war America started a secret war against Laos. 30% of the bombs are still unexploded in the ground and people still die because of it! Besides a museum Cope Centre helps these victims with physiotherapy and prosthetics. They show very good documentaries in which victims of unexploded bombs tell their story. This museum is fascinating and gives a very informative overview about the damage the landmines and unexploded bombs have done and are still doing in Laos. It also explains the incredibly valuable work carried out to clear the mines and also to rehabilitate Lao people who have lost limbs to the bombs, or for other reasons. The guides speak excellent English and the films you can watch are very moving. All in all a wonderful exhibition, which should be a must-see for all visitors to Vientiane. There is a lovely cafe in the grounds which does great homemade ice cream shakes, a great place to sit and reflect on what you have seen.
