“Make time to visit the COPE Centre.”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

We took a Tuk Tuk to visit the centre and our driver understood immediately where we wanted to go. We entered and had a look around the exhibition it's a very moving and powerful exhibition, which highlights the problems faced in Laos regarding UXOs. It also highlights the amazing work that is done at the COPE center, helping with the rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities and providing prosthetics to those with missing limbs.

We also watched the documentary Bomb Harvest, which was really good, we ended up purchasing a copy afterwards. I would recommend taking the time to watch at the centre.

There is no cost to enter and they don't put any pressure to donate, but there is the opportunity to donate or purchase merchandise from the shop which helps fund the great work that they do at the COPE centre. You can also buy gift cards for different things, such as a prosthetic leg. We bought a prosthetic leg card to give to someone as a Christmas gift.

I would highly recommend going to visit this centre!

“Very educational and creative exhibit”

This is a must visit location during your time in Vientiane. It is an easy bike ride to reach. You will leave feeling a bit overwhelmed, which indicates its successful communication of the situation. Leave yourself over an hour.

“Excellent exhibition that's definitely worth a visit”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

It was a little difficult to locate the COPE centre since it is a little out of the main city area (but definitely still walk-able). I was glad I made the effort to go there because it turned out to be one of the most interesting places I visited in Vientiane (possibly the most interesting one, actually).

The centre has a free, permanent exhibition on Unexploded Ordnances (UXOs) and how they are still affecting the lives of people in rural areas. It is extremely informative, and there are many videos which are worth watching. There is even an area where you can try strapping on a prosthetic to experience how difficult it is to learn to move with one. The exhibition is of great educational value, and worth going to if you have the time.

“Absolutely awesome! Have to go.”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

Not too far from town so accessible by bicycle and so worth it. The staff are excellent and so knowledgable. They will show you around the centre and put on the dvd in the movie room if you ask (well worth the time). Gives such a great insight into the history and current issues with UXOs in Laos. A must in Vientiane!!
