“Italian food at its best, not!”
Reviewed July 5, 2012

Even judged by local standards I found this place disappointing. They were out of parmesan today at lunchtime, but did not tell me when I ordered, so I thought "ham with parmesan" meant just that until it appeared in front of me. Then of course the (mediocre) pasta dish I had ordered came not with parmesan but a glutinous yellow trail which made me think of a snail with indigestion. I thought the coffee might rescue the meal but the less said about that the better. I gather the Adriatico is owned by an Italian entrepreneur but there is no sign in this rather dingy restaurant of any pleasure being taken in the creation of dishes. I will stick to the local cuisine.

“Good food, good prices, good service”
Reviewed June 13, 2012

A great place for a business lunch. The business lunch specials rotate and change everyday. Good pasta, nice sauces. Meat dishes are just okay most of the time, but not bad for Bishkek. Prices are reasonable. There are special nights for families, a movie night, etc., so check the website before you go. The service staff is very helpful and English is spoken.

“Good by Bishkek standards”
Reviewed June 25, 2011

Pizzas are ok, pasta basic. Meat is like the rest of Bishkek. Expect any part of the animal! Parmigiana on the starters is great. The restaurant in Bishkek aren't great but this is as good as it gets.

“A fabulous little piece of Italy...”
Reviewed September 19, 2009

Adriatico is run by a real Italian chef, and it shows - no only because the food is great, but because he can very often be found sitting at the corner table, entertaining guests and speaking jovially (in Italian, of course - I think he gets a lot of visitors from the embassy!).

This is a great place for business lunch, as the service is quick and the deals are frankly amazing - for $6 one can get a salad and a very nice pasta dish. For a bit more (perhaps $8?) the salad and pasta can be accompanied by a main dish as well. Prices on the non-lunch menu are not as much of a steal, but I believe they're still reasonable.

The quality of the food itself is outstanding - for Central Asia, to eat this well for this cheaply is unheard of. The staff is pleasant (I believe they speak English quite well, though I use Russian), the service relatively fast, and the atmosphere pleasant, though fairly low-key (in other words, though the food is good, this is not a high-class business atmosphere - more of a pragmatic working lunch atmosphere).

If you're looking for a break from typical Central Asian/Russian fare, this place could not be more highly recommended.
