A great one day trekking to Konorchek. We started in the morning from Bishkek. We drived by car about 2 hours. After started trekking to Konorchek, we did trekking totally 5 hours. The way is not difficult but some places you have to claim. Here is I think only one way go/back.

Really good place must go!!!

Possibly one of the most photogenic places in Kyrgystan is the Konorchek Canyons a short drive away from Bishkek. We headed there with our fixer leading the way and were astounded by the natural beauty of the place with the red sandstone canyon. Fairly easy hike through the canyon floor on the dry river bed, make sure you bring water rations and a huge memory card for your camera as you will not believe the colors and amazing beauty found here.

A couple of hours from Bishkek will take you to the place with spectacular view!! Just let your eyes relax, the place worth of spending your weekend there and no matter how many people are going with you. This is definitely must see!

Konorchek is popular red sandstone canyon on the way Bishkek - Issyk Kul. Relatively dry microclimate makes it suitable hiking location even during the rainy days. The path leads through the canyon and most of the time you walk on the dry bottom of the river. There are 3-4 rock steps in the canyon, which require little "climbing" (better said: using your hands to walk around the walls), where you should be careful. On the plateau, you can find several paths to walk, search for interesting rock formations, hike small hills and take pictures. Camping in the wild is possible, too.
