Excellent, friendly and helpful staff. The food's good and the outside restaurant area is a great place to eat or have a relaxing beer. Always a tuk tuk driver outside to take you anywhere you want ( $20 for the day). The front desk will organise your trips, onward transport etc without any fuss. The stairs to the 4th floor area bit of a pull but the staff deal with your luggage so you only have to drag yourself up and down. No noise from outside at night and six or seven set menu choices for breakfast ( or a la carte if you want to pay more for what appeared to be the same things), The building is pretty old and this is reflected in the fit and finish of the rooms but this was in no way detrimental to our stay here. All in all, a good place to stay in Phnom Penh.

Room Tip: If you don't mind the stairs, get a superior room on the 4th floor,

I highly recommend this property. I always stay here when I come to Phnom Penh. The staff are SO welcoming and very well trained. Food is very good and very reasonable. Breakfast included. Ask for one of the bigger rooms. Air conditioned. High speed internet.

Sokheng, assistant manager VERY good, most helpful. Phearum (reception) also very good. Restaurant supervisor: Rithy very good.

Lots of tuk tuk drivers but only one Sophea. ( pronounce SOAP-EE-AH) He is great. Fluent in English and will give you a good tour cheaply.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the bigger rooms.

Where to start...The best staff at any hotel I have stayed in! Rooms were spotless, hotel is charming and the food is lovely. If I really have to find a complaint, it would be that the breakfast is quite small and we felt it wasn't enough. Loved this hotel and I only hope we can stay here again sometime soon.

A very pleasant hotel with very friendly staff. On arrival we were offered a welcome drink and the choice of two rooms on 1st and 4th floor. We chose the 4th floor as there was a terrace and views of the surrounding area. As there is no lift we had a bit of a climb, but the views of the surrounding streets were worth it, as was the lovely terrace with green plants and a nice sitting area. It wasn't private but when we were there I don't think anyone else was on the top floor so we had it to ourselves. The room was comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities and reasonably efficient A/C. The restaurant offered a very good choice of Western and Cambodian dishes and we really enjoyed the happy hour with beer at $0,75 a glass; very refreshing after a days sightseeing. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The room was ideal and a fabulous location just of Street 277 but we encounter a serious of issues.

We occupied a suite which is one bedroom, a bathroom, another room and a balcony. For some strange reason, they have a door that locks by itself from the bedroom into the second room. We only noticed after we returned from the balcony to the bedroom on our first night to discover we were lock out of our bedroom at midnight. We spent the next hour waiting for two hotel workers to remove the lock to let us enter our bedroom. The management did apologise when we approached them the following morning and they a left a bottle of wine with a written apology in our bedroom when we retuned on the second day. At the same time we discovered the staff had turn off the A/C when we were out sightseeing. We had plan to return to return to cool room as temperature were 30 degrees plus. On top of this there the balcony was flooded and we had to get staff up to clean it before we could relax out the balcony.

Overall a nice location, perfect pick up from the station, the driver waited an hour for us and the breakfast was ideal. For the price, we should not have been lock out of bedroom. AC turn off and a flooded balcony.

Guests staying at the Anise Hotel like to refer to it as their home in Phnom Penh and they come back time and time again. Not unlike your home, unfortunately, things do break, despite all the maintenance, and sometimes at a most inopportune time. We apologized for the inconvenience, resolved the problem as fast as we could, and went over and beyond what any hotel would do, and apologized again with a bottle of wine on the house. This is the way our guests are treated at Anise. Your comfort matters to us.

You would be hard pressed to find a hotel where A/C is left on while guests are out of the room for the day. So we are not an exception and it is good practice for the environment and for our guests' pocket book. While traveling in a "developing" country" people have the tendency to think that everything is cheap. Not so. Our electricity is imported and is more expensive than in most "developed" countries. Our A/Cs work well and our rooms are cooled off within minutes.

As for the bit of water that seeped out of the flower pots on the balcony after our housekeepers watered the plants, we also apologized and the small area mopped dry right away. That would hardly qualify as a flooded balcony. A flood is when we have a monsoon downpour beating down on us so hard that all of us, staff and management included, have to get down on our hands and knees to keep water from really flooding the balcony. That's the reality and fun of living in a tropical country!

The most helpful staff! This hotel is fantastic. The staff red our wishes from our lips and everything worked fine. We had big rooms, which were clean and the breakfast was very good. I recommend this hotel to everybody.

Wasn't expecting much when we booked Anise hotel thru Agoda. We were greeted by the friendly staff with welcome drinks when we arrived and brought our luggage to our room. The room is reasonably spacious and well kept. We loved the breakfast provided as well. Overall, it was a lovely stay and will definitely book them again if we happen to be here in Phnom Penh.
