After a long and dusty drive from Siem Reap we arrived at dusk to this oasis in Phnom Penh. We loved it from the minute we arrived to teh minute we left. We stayed int he two bedroom suite with our two teenage kids for three nights and experienced wonderful hospitality, friendliness and great service. I would not stay anywhere else next time.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at The Pavilion, we only wish that we could stay have stayed longer but they were full. The hotel pool was beautiful, and a relaxing end to a hot/dusty day in the city. The room (we were in the Garden Bungalow) was spacious and the staff at the hotel was top-notch. They were all very friendly and responsive; they helped us plan out a quick city tour and arranged for our bags to be transferred to our next hotel (their sister hotel, the 212 which was also very nice). Also, the massage at the spa was really great -- and at a really great price (w opted for the longer massage than the complimentary welcome option! We definitely recommend without reservations.

Room Tip: We loved the privacy and rustic-romantic feel of the garden bungalow....

We also had a pool villa and yes, the water in our 'private spa' was cold but after a day walking around a hot, dusty Phnom Penh it was very welcome. Ours wasnt inundated with leaves but there were a couple of frangipani blooms floating on the surface, I kid you not it really was that picturesque! We were here 3 nights, we spent some time around the main pool on a lounge but most of our time exploring the sights of PP on our first visit. The hotel was small but elegant, the staff friendly and helpful, the review describing it as an "oasis" couldn't have been more accurate, peaceful and lovely after the chaos of PP. sitting in our private garden spa sipping cocktails was a perfect way to unwind before changing and venturing out for dinner. We had no problems with our room, nothing shabby about it, we're both close to six feet tall (one just over, one just under) and we found the room, the bed and the bathroom to be perfectly roomy. The breakfast was limited, not some big buffet but it offered everything we wanted and was hot, tasty and more than adequate. There is also a free library including dvds, not extensive, books and dvds left behind by previous guests but useful for those hours spent lounging by the pool. Someone else has also already commented on the price, it really is 5 star quality at a 2 star price. Well worth it, great value and we will definitely be coming back to PP and likely to stay here again.

Room Tip: It's not much extra but well worth the price to get a garden villa room.

Fantastic place to stay! This charming place is set in beautiful colonial villa. Breakfast is simple, but tasty and very filling. The pool and daybeds nestled around the garden are great places to relax after a day exploring Phnom Penh. Definitely recommended.

We stayed here for 3 nights in a private pool room. It says on the website that the bathrooms may be small in these rooms because of the nature of the building but our bathroom was large and the room itself was lovely. The private pool is fantastic but the hotel pool is also beautiful with gorgeous sun beds around it and is surrounded by palm trees. It was a really relaxing and peaceful place to be and enjoy our breakfast each morning - quite nice to not have any kids there. Service from the staff at the hotel is great, very friendly and helpful. I recommend doing the sunset cruise they offer. The boat itself is lovely and they take you so see some floating fishing villages on the mekong and the sunset over the city is great. We saw some other big ugly boats on the water and the one we had was very cute and there were only a few of us on there. I also recommend their restaurant at the Chinese House. It is fine dining and obviously more expensive than any other meal you will have but if you want a treat the food is great!

We were booked into the The Pavilion as part of a tour with the promise that it was 'a boutique hotel in a fabulous location'. This was absolutely true. From the moment we stepped inside the Pavilion we loved it! Our room was welcoming with flower buds carefully arranged across the four poster bed. The room although small met all our needs and the fruit basket an unexpected surprise. The mangosteens were the best we have had for ages! The breakfasts are beautiful and the pool area cool and relaxing after the heat of a busy day around town. The location is great, it is easy to walk anywhere in the major centre, which means you can enjoy the local foods without feeling guilty about over eating.

The welcome massage was an unexpected treat, although my husband's masseur appeared more experienced than mine.

The only disappointment was that the pillows were very high for someone who usually sleeps on a nearly flat pillow. I asked about alternatives, but was told all the pillows in the hotel are the same and have just been upgraded/replaced. Thankfully they were soft, so I was able to manage, but some options would have been welcomed.

The Pavilion staff were always welcoming and friendly, always keen to ensure our stay was enjoyable. The Pavilion is a home away from home we would recommend.

Room Tip: While we didn't check out the other rooms the idea of a private pool for only a few dollars more...

The Pavilion is beautiful French colonial villa amid Staggering garden. There were overwhelming helpful staff. Clear water public pool enclosed rest pavilion. There were lavish greenery, butterfly, flowers and birds at this heavenly place located in Phom Phen centre. Also it is worth to mention bar cocktails are very good. Room with private pool is recommended for romantic couple seclusion.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
It all started when we fell in love with a hidden gem of French-Khmer architecture from the 1920s near Wat Botum, one of the most venerable and original pagodas in Phnom Penh. Renovation and remodeling were led with due respect for the character of a building which had been, as we learnt it later on, a private retreat for Queen Consort Sisowath Kossamak, the late King Sihanouk's mother. Opened on August, 18, 2006 with 10 rooms, The Pavilion has slowly expanded over the years, offering now 36 accommodations throughout three more period buildings that have been added to the property: "The New House", former residence of the chief veterinarian at the Royal Palace; "The New Villa", formerly the private residence of a Cambodian senator, and "The Sun-Pool Villa", our latest addition which used to be lodgings for diplomats based in Phnom Penh. Each one has its own style and atmosphere, with distinctive architectural features such as an elaborate wooden stairway, intricate iron wrought railings, etc… ... more   less
