I joined the entourage of 67 people from Singapore to Cambodia on a humanitarian trip. Himawari has been quite a pleasant experience for me. Boss of hotel was wonderful! Staff generally courteous though concierge was not very fluent in English. Couldn't understand when I asked whether Central Market would be closed on General Election Day. Minor issue though. Breakfast spread was sufficient. Beer (locally brewed) was good. Had 2 lovely nights enjoying the serenity of the river with live piano on 1st night. Room was big but the dryer was not really effective. My clothes were still damp after 2 cycles of drying. Another issue to raise up. Perhaps hotel can provide complimentary washing detergent for guests who would like to use washer? If not, I am sure guests would not mind paying for washing detergent if it's made available. All in all, still a lovely hotel because boss of hotel truly has a heart for people.

Our group of 67 people from Singapore stayed 2nights at the Himawari. Besides the hotel's excellent location overlooking the confluence of the Mekong and Tonle Sap Rivers, the clean apartments/ rooms and well managed facilities, we were touched by the kindness of the staff and the management. Due to a road travel delay, we arrived at the hotel at 10pm (3.5 hours late for dinner and check-in) and we would have gone to bed weary and hungy, if not for the staff who graciously extended to us the welcome drinks and dinner buffet at the Garden Terrace, well past their operation hours. Our second evening was a dinner gathering of 150 people and it was splendid. This was held in the spacious and airconditioned premises of the tented ballroom at the hotel's waterfont. The delicious buffet spread, good sound and projection facilities and excellent service quality of the staff contributed to this beautiful evening.

I stayed at himawari on 26-28 July 2013. The riverside location is within 5 mins walking distance to the PhnomPenh city main riverfront rows of pubs and eateries, plus Royal Palace and Museum.
The hotel is well maintained with a very resort feel, and the swimming pool by the riverside is great for relaxed lap swim or just lazed around. The room is HUGE, bed is firm & comfortable and
all the staff is friendly. In the evening there is live traditional Cambodia music playing in the lobby which emotes a tranquil feeling, a great respite from the city traffic jam.
Highly recommend this hotel for family with children and business traveller who wishes to be in an environment with resort feeling.

The Himawari has been our family's home away from home during our visits to Phnom Penh for the past five years. The rooms are spacious, clean, nicely appointed and affordable. The hotel staff is attentive and always helpful. We love the location- on the waterfront and just a few minutes walk from the Royal Palace and shopping.

Room Tip: The 3 bedroom suite is a great size for a family of five. Three bathrooms, kitchen and living & dining room.

My family has stayed at the Himawari 3 times over the last 3 years and have always enjoyed it. Its in a great location and its a great hotel. Great swimming pool, excellent views of the river and its own river restaurant boat for dinner cruises. Only a short walk from some great pubs and restaurants.
