Inside the royal palace, the silver pagoda is worth visiting. I recommend going late in the day when crowds seem to disappear. ( or were we just lucky.)

The silver pagoda was the very first pagoda that we had actually been up close to. Was a fascinating place to learn about the history of the pagoda and what it means.

There is only a small portion of the silver floor exposed with the rest covered by carpets so you don't get the full grandeur of the interior. Since you have to take off your shoes to enter, perhaps occasionally allowing a little stocking foot traffic would help keep it polished.
The displays were beautiful but apparently not as opulent as before the Vietnamese looted the place back in the day. Still, it was a worthwhile visit as a bonus to the palace compound.

it's not as old - perhaps 200 years -as the design might suggest but that's the way it is in Asia as far as religious buildings are concerned. This magnificent Pagoda will probably look the same well in the next Millenium, beautifully adorned inside as it is outside and surrounded by beautiful gardens.

Do take advantage of hiring one of the Official Guides who have so much to tell of the history of Cambodia and its religions.

Cost $6.25US to get in, complete waste of money. Not very much to see and the palace closed 30 minutes earlier than advertised, so we were kicked out before we saw anything! Wouldn't recommend spending money on this
