Having seen the similar attractions in Bangkok this was an anti-climax - some of the stupas are just unpainted concrete, the murals are peeling off, the insides of the temples are not that interesting and the whole place looks a bit run down. The impression is reinforced by a shabby cafe with old faded film boxes for sale and staff ho could not wait to go for their break. Highlight for me was the shala flower tree just inside the temple which was the first one I'd seen (photo uploaded)

still interesting from a cultural and historical point of view, the pagoda is not that special,. the art is quite recvent, higholy ornamental and not striking.
the location at the pace grounds is pleasant, but don't ecpect to be overwhelmed

I find it fascinating that both Cambodia and Laos are holding spots open for the eventual return of the emerald Buddha from Thailand, which will probably never happen. Anyway, there are a lot of interesting antiques in the display cases.

Also known as the Palace of the Emerald Buddha, beautifully preseneted and great photo opportunities, several other wats, temples and stupas nearby so a good place to centralise yourself
