Description: DID - Dine in the Dark is a fine dining restaurant in which there are no lights inside the dining room. This pitch-dark restaurant provides guests a chance to discover Khmer, international and vegetarian dishes without seeing them, thereby heightening all non-visual senses in an elegant fashion. All dishes offer a surprising selection of tastes and textures, and by revealing the dishes only after dinner, DID - Dine in the Dark provides the opportunity to indulge in a culinary guessing-game. The restaurant also has a social purpose at the core of its business model, as it employs a team of talented visually-impaired to work as members of its service team. It thereby creates equal employment opportunities for the visually impaired in Cambodia while raising awareness about their professional skills. DID - Dine in the Dark is the perfect place for couples, friends, and groups to experience an enjoyable new world of sensations and discover social enterprises in a whole new way.

I went to DID together with my girlfriend. We both chose the western surprise menu (other options: Khmer + vegetarian). Our great host led us up the stairs to our table in the total dark. You're down one sense and you try to make up for that with your other senses. A real challenge. Eating with fork and knife were to difficult for me, so I just used my hands (no one could see me eating like that...). The food was really good and we really enjoyed it. Definitely will come back to try the other menus.

Had a great experience at this extremely unique and well run resaurant. The food was brilliant as was the service but of course the best part about it was the unusual but invigorating experience of dining in the dark.

I arrived with a party of 18 people. There is an excellent welcome, from the instant I arrived I was impressed with the professional design, soothing lighting and were made to feel most comfortable while waiting to be taken upstairs for our meal by one of DiD's blind or partially sighted waiters/waitresses. The journey upstairs was fun on its own as we had to make a human chain, led by the our waitress, to navigate a maze of black curtains before reaching our table in a the very, very dark dining room. Half of the pleasure of the evening was being able to talk to our waitress who spoke very clear English, learning about her studies, education and even travels to Japan. She was attentive to our table (each table is seated for four and has a designated waiter or waitress for the evening). The menu is broadly categorized as Khmer, International and Vegetarian, but beyond that what you receive is a surprise. It was fun trying to guess some items on the plate, beyond saying my food was excellent, perfectly cooked, very tasty and very well balanced, I would not want to spoil the experience by telling other customers what I had. The desert was great, a bonus for me was having thought I had finished it only to find with my hands several minutes later that I still had more items on the dish. As the previous reviewer says, it is all on the feeling and eating in pitch darkness really does make you concentrate on the flavors so much more. We were shown photos of the meal we had eaten at the end, the food was stylish and sophisticated. In summary DiD blends three elements perfectly: a great experience; great food and a social contribution. One of the best dining experiences of my life and I would recommend to all people living and working in Phnom Penh or travelling through.

We were the first guests in this special programm of Botanic Garden. You choose à surprise menu and 3 blind waiters bring you to the dark restaurant. It's really dark. They serve the menu's and drinks. In the beginning it feels strange, nut aftershaves 10 minutes it's great. Everything you do is on the 'feeling'. À lot of fun and very good food. When you are in Phnom Penh you can't miss it. À great experience
