“Interesting Diversion”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2013

The Wat is surrounded by a lovely park and you have a chance to climb a small hill. The Wat itself is okay but small and not particularly inspiring inside (musicians sit on the carpet waiting for rich believers to pay them). Certainly worth a quick visit if you have the time.

“Wat Phnom... The heart and soul of Phnom Phen”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2013 via mobile

Wat Phnom rises out of an ocean of swirling traffic ,a precious jewel clothed in jungle faunas and scented by fragrant frangipani blossoms .At its base the people lie on soft grasses escaping the heat, whilst the overhead branches shake and screech with the monkey families that inhabit them.. Swaying elephants carry children around the circuit paths of the temple hill. To know its heart one must climb the stone stairs that are flanked by ancient carved naga (serpent) protectors. The reddish browns and contrasting gilt and red painted panels of the main wooden Wat are doorways into an aged sacred space, which are lit by massive candles ... Their yellow hues streaked by the swirling incense vapours that curl their way heavenward to the scene painted vault. An old man sits inside on the cool tiles with his divination sticks, two pilgrims beside him awaiting the telling of their destinies. When I think ever of Cambodia,it is Wat Phnom that immediately comes to my mind!

“Not just another temple”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

We enjoyed our visit to the city's temple-it really has quite a spritual feel about it. It sits on top of a hill in a basically flat city, so has quite a nice outlook. The surrounding grounds are pretty and just nice to stop and relax in. We didn't notice too many beggars on our visit.

“Where Phnom Penh Started”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2013

This small knoll so they say is where Phnom Penh started as legend has it, interesting site to visit just to say you have been there, but take a stroll you can get some good photo shots if you take your time and actually see what is there and do be a tourist a quick dash through here it is interesting if you want it too be.
