Everyone might "know" the story but it is important, even though it it hard on the heart, to see and bear witness to the horror that was committed here in the 1970s. We must really understand what happened here and remember so we never forget and never let this happen in the world again. This is the only way that we can truly honor the dead.

I visited the killing fields ..... so sad ...... but I do feel that it is important to visit the site so these crimes to humanity are not forgotten.

I was really impressed by the Choeung Ek memorial. The key was the superb audio guide - a must for all visitors. It provides some context to the history of the Khmer Rouge years and takes you through he grounds. Listening to the survivor stories in the quiet of the grounds gives you time to reflect. A sensitively organized memorial and a must see.

Extremely moving and emotional experience. Well organized and nicely maintained. Not an easy visit, but important to bear witness and remember so the lives lost here can be honored.

It gives you a look into the terror and tragedy that Cambodia is still trying to struggle out from.
I knew this was not going to be an easy place to visit, however just because it is not nice does not mean we should forget it happened.
The audio tour is very well done, it allow individuals to set their own pace, which is great as sometimes you just need time out to gather your thoughts and recompose yourself before moving to the next point.
I can only hope that by people visiting the killing fields and understanding what went on that it will never ever happen again.
It can be a very emotional visit and if you do not feel anything during a visit you need to check your pulse.
