there isn't actually much to "see" at the killing fields, but the audio tour really gives a good, somber account of the recent tragic history of this country.

To understand the Country I am sure that you need to go here more than anywhere. The inhumanity and the stories which are relayed on the headphone you borrow is really beyond belief and many people are visibly moved to tears.
The environment is quite raw still with human bones on display and rags from victims still in the dirt in some places. Should be combined with the Genocide museum.

This place is an absolute must when in phnom penh! It's horrifying, tragic and mind blowing but it would be an offence to visit such a country and not learn and be educated on its terrible recent past!

This place could be very upsetting for some! It is also very graphic! I am very pleased I went and had my eyes fully opened as although I knew about it my knowledge was also limited!

It isn't expensive and your given headphones in order to be walked through the visit!

Definitely go here!

I did not really know about the genocide in Cambodia and this was one of the most disturbing places I have ever visited. The audio tour was very informative and gave first-hand accounts. Warning: this is very upsetting and not for the feint of heart (graphic details given). However, once you interact with the Cambodian people, it gives you an entirely different perspective on the misery they have faced in the past, the challenges the deal with in the present, and the hopes they have for the future. I would visit Tuong Sleng first, and then come to Choeung Ek.

Emotionally draining but an absolute must to visit to understand this country and its people. You get an audio tour guide which is excellent.
