“Bliss!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2013

One week ago was the FIRST TIME IN THREE YEARS that I had an amazing dinner in Phnom Penh. Goat Cheese with sweet onions are awesome, and Seafood Paela perfect and full of fresh seafood. Special comment for its desserts, especially Forest fruits with Vanilla ice cream. Chef is gorgeous. I will come back.

“Didn't hit the mark for me”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2013

I had an above average visit to Quitapenas. Of about 6 tapas that we ordered, some were delicious - snapper, fillet and microgreens - but others underwhelmed - scallops with guacamole. I left full but not intensely satisfied. Hard to say if I would return given all the other dining options in PP, but I'd be open to it if others I knew had a better experience. Nevertheless, the restaurant itself is quite charming and I'm a total sucker for Spanish decor.

“Eat, drink, enjoy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2013

.
After the telephone-book size menus of so many restaurants in Phnom Penh – which offer Eastern, Western and Khmer – it is refreshing to go to a Spanish place that prints their menu daily. And it is never more than a page and a half because what they bought at the market that morning is on the menu that evening.

Everything is tapas, and only tapas which are perfect for sharing. Goat cheese balls to drool over; duck livers that melt in your mouth; something new to try that wasn’t offered yesterday. And the wine list is extensive.

Upstairs there is a lounge where you can relax. Sink into the sofas in one of the private venues or head for the balcony for some fresh air. Relaxby listening to the music – played on vinyl records – and imbibing the ambience.

“Great new restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2013

Quitapenas has only been open for a week or two, but they are operating smoothly and producing quality fin-dining standard food. It looks like there is a different food menu every day, as the menu is a single sheet of paper presented inside an air-mail envelope. There was a small selection of tapas style dishes and a couple of desserts on the day we ate there. Not being a fish- eater, my wife and I ordered one of every meat dish on the menu. The duck with strawberry sauce was fantastic, and the duck liver was as good as any foie gras I've ever eaten. Our only problem was the chicken dish, which was extremely salty; so much that we left if after a couple of mouthful. I told the waitress, but we didn't receive an apology or a reduction on our bill, which was disappointing.
However, we went on to sample desserts, both opting for steamed fruits with cream (or was it sauce) and they were delicious.
My only other gripe is the chairs, the backrests of which dig into your back if you attempt to sit back. This is one detail which should be sorted out promptly.
