“Refreshing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2014 via mobile

How good is it to have a micro brewery in a hotel foyer?
The beer was tasty, served both light and heavy beers with alcohol content ranging from 5.5 to 6.9.
Made a lovely change from some of the local beers in Vietnam and Cambodia.
A little pricey by Cambodian standards.
Helpful staff and a lovely view over the river.
Do try.

“Excellent beer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2014

It was refreshing to find locally brewed beer in Phnomh Penn at a good price and a nice selection of strengths and flavours. When we were told of the brewery we were somewhat sceptical but soon changed our minds, as did most of our fellow travellers. another plus factor was the proximity of various restaurants and tourist attractions.

“Himawari Microbrewery”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2014

The microbrewery is in the lobby on the left. They produce 4 beers at a time, pale ales, IPA, amber ale, and an oatmeal stout, which is the best stout in Cambodia. You can take your beer outside on the large patio and watch the Tonle Sap - Mekong River traffic. Himawari translates to "sunflower" in Japanese and they have real and fake sunflowers planted outside. You can buy a sampler of 4 beers for $3.99 anytime, but you want to go there for the happy hour prices as the beers are quite expensive for Cambodia. Happy Hour is 4-7 PM when a small glass of beer will cost $3.30, a medium glass $4.99, and the large glass $5.99 (Prices valid as of 4 July 2014). They also have the best beer coaster in my collection, if you collect beer-related souvenirs. The whole place is very clean. The brewery is open from 12 to 10:30 PM. Enjoy a craft beer!

There beer here is really nice but don't expect to get drunk any time soon as the service is pretty slow.

“Best Beer in Town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2014

The one thing I crave most while living in Asia is a good European style beer. The cheap beer that you can everywhere else certainly gets very boring after a while, and it was a real pleasure to be able to come into the Himawari, sit by the poolside and try something more. I disagree with some of the reviewers comments that it's expensive. I think it's simply the case of getting what you've paid for. A glass of beer (Gem and Jade, 450ml) is $6 (don't forget the "++", plus 10% service charge and then 10% VAT), but if you can get a few friends together who are willing to share a tower of beer, at $25++ for a 2.5l tower (5.5 glasses... during happy hour it's 30% off so we only paid $21 or so for that tower of beer) it's very reasonable in my view and represent another 25% discount from buying individual glasses... Best beer in town is best shared with friends!
