“Fancy property, not so great service”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

Our 3 day stay started with no pick-up at the river pier where our ferry had dropped us even though a pick-up had been earlier confirmed. The tuk-tuk drivers had no idea where the hotel was either so it was a while before we reached.
Check-in was casually handled by seemingly inexperienced staff. Followed by a long climb up stairs to the 4th floor cramped room in the 'Attic'.
The room itself was decent, clean and had a nice balcony. It also had ants! The hotel is decorated beautifully and is worth a good explore.
Breakfast was good though the portions really tiny and very slow service. The staff was often too busy chatting with each other to be found.
Not a place I would recommend till they get their act together

We stayed here over Christmas 2012 for 2 nights.

When we booked, website was not mentioning that we had booked an attic room:
Third floor, no lift, small room but with nice balcony - downside: no bathroom-door (website updated now to reflect correct info)

Requested pickup for transfer upon arrival did not show up, we had some hazzles for a tuktuk-driver to find the place, as the adress is apparently insufficient - if you go there "next to passport office" should make it clear. Had the driver call the place to get directions.

Staff was correct and nice, understanding and speaking English was a bit of an issue.

Breakfast was OK, though we had to hunt for someone to serve us (we were the only guests at that time having b'fast)

The advertised spa is off-site, they offer to transfer you to the actual spa or call somebody to give treatments in your room.
The pool is small and had a greenish shine, we skipped to use it.

All in all, the property is really nice as is the location a bit off the "tourist mile", we found however that service quality needs to be beefed up.

Room Tip: note: no lift

We stayed two nights in this hotel...and I absolutely love = ambiance, staff, food, room. We stayed in Paris Attic Room. Before check-in, I was worried because the room's bathroom/toilet has no door... but my friend and I managed to used the bathroom/toilet. The food were fantastic and the staff were so friendly...especially the manager(I think) and reception guys. I love the ambiance of the hotel from the exterior to interior... If I'll visit Phnom Penh again... will definitely stay again in Governor's House Hotel

Room Tip: Vietnamese Pho is worth to try for breakfast, if you are going to siem reap..book giant ibis bus.

We stayed here for 1 night while in Phnom Penh in early December. We really loved the hotel. It's beautiful both inside and out. We enjoyed getting a drink by the pool with our feet in the water before we went and toured Phnom Penh.

We selected the cheapest room they had on the 3rd floor and it was great. Very cute and cozy. There was a nice little balcony as well. The staff was very friendly and super helpful...the management is clearly trying to make this little hotel a gem. It's a little bit from the Palace, etc but tuk tuk's are so cheap in Cambodia that it cost you $2 to get back and forth.

Highly recommend and would definitely return!

This is a really special hotel. It's a little dearer than some others, but worth every penny, and actually reasonable for what you get. The hotel itself is fab - immaculate, modern yet classy decor, beautifully presented rooms with quality finish and fittings. Nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful staff, who constantly went out of their way to make us feel welcome - we felt like royalty! They all speak very good English and are really knowledgeable about the area, restaurants, reliable tuk tuks etc and are happy to make various travel arrangements for your with genuine companies. All genuine, lovely people. Breakfast was also great and the lunch we had was delicious. Pool area is exceptional. We loved it so much we stayed an extra day. Cannot recommend it highly enough!

We stayed for only a night at the hotel but it was a fantastic and memorable stay! The room was tastefully designed with a balcony for chilling out. Our room was 'The Sean' located on the 2nd floor and it was beautiful. It was a pity that the bath tub is located in the middle of the room and there is no door to separate the toilet from the room.

Breakfast was delicious but the pool seems to be unused.

Location was not too hard to find as long as you quote "Passport Office" to the Tuk Tuk drivers.

Highly recommended to anyone who comes to Phnom Penh for a holiday!

We are a couple and we spent only one night in this hotel.
We had a room on the fourth floor (last floor without lift). Our room was small. Not really a problem but there was no door between the room and the toilet-bathroom... Not really nice!
Otherwise, we had a really good diner, with a good meat, a good wine! Was really tasteful!
The staff was nice but some of them didn't speak english. But the owner told us that there are managing this.
The pool is small and was not really clean, but we had a swim. Cocktails are good.

Room Tip: There is no lift...
