I recently spent 3 nights here on my first trip to Cambodia, and was extremely happy with this hotel. The hotel has a lot of character, the rooms were lovely with very comfortable beds, the staff made every effort to be helpful, and the resturant food was excellent. The hotel is near the centre of town but set in a quieter location than the river front, so a great place to rest and relax. The owner is taking on board some of the minor criticisms others have had and is working to fix them all. I would definitely try to stay here next time I visit, and am just worried that I won't be able to get in if everyone discovers it. Give it a try,

This small hotel is newly opened, it is a recently renovated old house with an original atrium and three floors of guest rooms . The furnishings are without doubt the most beautiful antique furniture mixed in with leather sofas at each level, the result is fascinating, it is asif you are staying in a friends house, free to enjoy the terraces and pool whilst being attended to by discreet staff. The decor was a mixture of old with modern accompaniments, good lighting ,comfortable bed and clean rooms.

The bathrooms were very modern again with discreet lighting everywhere but lacked a bit of practicality needed for hotel guests, no door on the bathroom wasn't to our taste but I understand doors are being fitted soon ! Somewhere to hang clothes in the bathroom after swilling them through would be a good move too.

Breakfast by the small but intimate pool was a pleasure, maybe a slightly quicker service and a wider selection of food would be better.

We arrived by boat from Chau Doc and was charged $8 for a Tuc Tuc, don't get caught on this it should only be $3 at the most.

I would sincerely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a small alternative place to stay, it is a bit in the suburbs and you need a Tuc Tuc there and back but at $2/3 a go it wasn't a problem.

Room Tip: Check which rooms are available as apparently there are some small ones on the top floor, a couple h...

This is a great little hotel that is beautifully decorated with wonderful ambience and charm.
I found the staff very friendly and helpful including, Alain, the owner.
I enjoyed dining by the pool with its intimate setting and very good menu.

Room Tip: Room 3 has a balcony that overlooks the pool...very romantic!

The Governor's House Colonial Hotel is very stylish with an impressive hall and bar. The service is good and the sanitaries are nice and modern.
Its location is really usefull to get a taxi or make a tour on foot.
I missed a good Internet connexion in my room.

You wouldn't think such a secluded beautiful boutique hotel could be in the middle of Phnom Penh. The rooms are tastefully decorated (maybe has to do with the owner being in the art business), service is great as well as food.

A must-stay in Phenom Penh, or visit for a drink or dinner as the bar is magnificent, and you can enjoy gourmet food and a comprehensive wine list in either the intimate dining or by the pool. But Governor's is best appreciated if you stay overnight, the elegantly themed rooms (Marilyn, Hemingway etc) have luxurious European bedlinen and bath fittings, and all mod cons to suit the leisure or business traveller. The hotel has been faithfully restored and features teak floors, sweeping staircases, private balconies, a rock-walled pool, a library focussed on architecture and literary/film topics, and attentive service. It is a welcome respite from the dust and noise of Phnom Penh but only a 5-minute tuk tuk ride from the riverfront and major tourist attractions. Just ask the helpful staff if you want to use their professional driver and any of the shiny, black hotel vehicles (tuk tuk or SUV), or they'll arrange other transport options for you. We stayed 3 nights and wished we'd dined in every day and booked in a bit longer! The only place we'll stay next yimr.

Great hotel with super accomodation and plenty of charm.
No doubt that the owner, Alain, was a former wellknown decorator of luxery houses.
I enjoyed the food, the service at the bar and at the nicely aranged swimingpool.
Businessaccomodation and wifi works well.
A must.

Room Tip: rooms are all great but it is worth to visit them before because they are all different.
