“Nice place, poor food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2014 via mobile

Let us start with the positives:
The place is well decorated. Interior lighting and coloring makes it impressive.
Tables are well suited creating a cozy environment.
Location is relatively good, on the riverside close to bars and other restaurants.

Time for the negatives:
It is not a cheap restaurant, therefore there are high expectations on service and food. The owners promote it as "Asian Fusion" but that end to the decoration, nothing fusion on food.
When visited the first disappointment came with the table, cheap chopsticks!!! Actually one use chopsticks that you usually get at street food vendors. But the prices here are so much higher.
We got two plates of sushi rolls. Tuna and salmon. Portions were good (five rolls per plate) but the sushis were placed on a layer of mayonnaise!!!!!! Japanese started wars for less serious reasons than that. I cannot make any comment for the quality of the food as all I got was mayo taste, have to admit it was a good mayonnaise but a bit overpriced.
Tuna steak was excellent, got a bite front my wife so I can tell.
Paid more than 50$ and ended up at a street food vendor to get something to eat.
One last thing for the owners: it is a shame to have such a beautiful place and let the mood get spoiled by tourists trying to pick up the bar women or the waitresses.

“Something for everyone”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2014 via mobile

A group of us, 5 in total, arrived without a booking Saturday night and opted to sit at the bar rather than a table. Let's start with the ambience, fabulously modern and upmarket for Phnom Penh and the professionalism of the staff the best I have experienced since I have been here.
We are a fussy lot of eaters, so the fact that everyone found something they loved on the menu was an achievement. Whilst prices are definitely as upmarket as the fit out the quality and quantity is also reflected. We have amongst us, BBQ chicken japanese style and everyone who tried it said it was seriously good, the black sesame seared tuna salad was divine, my only criticism would be the dressing on the salad was too sharp and it would have been better with less of it and something more akin to a ponzu. The squid salad was also superb, tender and just the right kick of chilli, the hungry one who also had the Japanes short ribs make short work of them and I enjoyed his rocket salad as he was full.
The melt in the mouth mushroom hosamaki will have me returning.
Lots of other delicious sounding items on the menu and I saw beautifully presented dishes being delivered to other tables. Lots of non japanese food also just in case people want modern international, for its modern japanese was just perfect for a change.

“Great atmosphere!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 6, 2014

I read heaps of reviews on this restaurant and I had to go and check it out. The place layout is great! Staff greet you as you walk in and sit you down. Ordered tuna makizushi, miso soup and caesar salad. All was great tasting! I was by myself so I was a bit of a loner but its a nice place to hang out.

“Good food and charming service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2014

The food is good. I tried the beef tenderloin with red wine sauce and béarnaise sauce with mash potatoes. The meat was excellent and correctly cooked with good seasoning. The mash potatoes were smooth and tasty. The molten chocolate cake is served warm with coffee ice cream. The quality of the chocolate is good, enough bitterness with a rich taste. The ice cream was little bit too hard. It will gain in being softer. The service is at the same level of the food. The ladies are very charming, well educated and speak an excellent English. The atmosphere is relaxing and the decoration is classy with comfortable furniture.
