Hotel good by Cambodian standards,ok rooms, not top of the range but clean.
Could do with a make over and beer prices less than $5.00 for a glass and that could fill up the bars
Good location,Good brekfast and graet pool

The Cambodiana is in a great spot on the riverfront, the hotel is spacious and clean. The Khmer staff are wonderful and will try their hardest to do everything for you. Remember this is Cambodia and sometimes things take a little extra time or get lost in translation, patience nearly always pays off. We stayed on the Mekong Floor which includes a few extras like cocktails and canapes in the evening, this turned out to be very good value for money as we also had our 2 daughters (one of whom is our adopted Cambodian daughter for the last 6 years) and they were both made very welcome where ever they went within the hotel.

It is a shame that the hairdresser/spa has closed down within the hotel complex as it was very handy, but just a couple of streets away is a really good Vietnamese hairdresser and up the road is a great beauty spa.

Breakfast buffet was mostly good especially if you wanted noodle soups, fruit, pastries and like. For evening meals there are a hundred nearby restaurants that are great value and good service being used to more westerners in the city. Very easy to get a moto or tuk tuk outside the hotel, prices vary but generally a bit cheaper if you wander up the road a bit, but we struck up a rapport with a couple of the tuk tuks within the hotel grounds and so we had a good deal every time we went out.

Big downside is the disgusting behaviour of dirty middle aged men, hideous looking things with no personalities that can't cut it in their own countries, using the pool area with 2 or 3 pubescent Cambodian girls hanging around and all over them. These men exploit the young girls with promises of money and a future outside of their own. It is not only dreadful to watch (my daughters were mortified) but so so sad. What is worse is that the hotel just turns a blind eye and the other guests just have to put up with it. This is something to be aware of when staying at most of the Phnom Penh hotels as it will offend most people.

I stayed in a Mekong Floor room which included some added benefits ( overall good value). The room was quite large but the bathroom was small (and in need of a face lift!)

Service was mixed and ranged from average to very good. A number of the staff appeared bored and this may have been because the occupancy rate was low during my visit.

On the positive side, the water views are fantastic and it is a short walk or Tuk Tuk ride to the string of bars and restaurants along Sisowath Quay. There is a supermarket across the road and a number of attractions are close by.

The hotel has a lot of advantages but really needs a comprehensive face lift to compete with the increasing number 4 -5 star hotels in Phnom Penh.

I would stay there again but there are better options.

After reading some of the reviews on here of this hotel I was not looking forward to my two night stay here. However, it didn't turn out to be has bad as some had said it was going to be. The lobby is fine complete with cake shop and tourist shop. The reception staff were helpful. The pool is good and the views of the river are great. The breakfast was good with western food, an omelette counter and even baked beans. You can walk to the main street for restaurants in about 10 minutes. The rooms are large but they need a refurb. They were probably very good 10-20 years ago but have suffered from just being used and look abit dated. This could be a great hotel if the rooms were renovated as it stands today it looks very impressive from the outside but the rooms are a little disappointing, having said that I would consider staying again and would recommend it to friends with a caveat on the rooms.

We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to the Mekong Club, 5th Floor which had one of the largest king beds we had seen. The room was very clean and quite nice. After being away from the gym for a while was impressed with there fitness center which was up there with some of the best facilities I have experienced.
The restaurant was quite good we dined there for both dinner and breakfast and found there selections to be fairly good.
We organised transport with there concierge which was done promptly and priced competitvely and the driver was very good and informative.

It has certainly the syle and the facilities of a four start hotel but it is evident that it has been there for quite a while. Everything in the rooms looks terribly old and old fashioned. The greatest thing is breakfast, which, alone, is worth the room price: one of the best I have ever had, a great variety of delicious food. Very good position, too.

We just arrived to the Hotel Cambodiana and were leary after reading a few of the not so good reviews posted recently. I had been dealing with Siphon via email, and she handled my emails and questions with extreme professionalism. We were picked up at the airport and whisked away without a problem, and even taken to an ATM that dispensed US dollars! We checked in without a problem and were upgraded to the VIP (5th) floor, for no extra charge. My children had the room next door. There was complimentary fruit and water waiting for us, and they allowed us to view the rooms prior to checking in. This was not a problem at all.
It is standard in many overseas countries to sign a credit slip upon arrival for any "mishaps" that may happen in the room. This also covers the mini-bar etc.
If prior visitors had read anything about Cambodia, they would know that the tap water in this region isn't safe for drinking...the area is prone to flooding and the poverty doesn't allow for them to be able to pump the water system clean...thus the complimentary water in the room.
There is a great "Pencil" Supermarket about a 2 minute Tuk-tuk ride from the hotel where you can buy all the American products you are accustomed to for about half the cost. ( A can of soda is 35 cents) American money is used and greatly appreciated here. A case of water will set you back a few dollars. Alcohol is also available for about half the cost you spend in the states.
We ate at the Mekong Garden Restaurant for lunch, and it was excellent. My husband had the KungPao Chicken and I had the Fish and Chips, both came out steaming hot. We met the chef who assured us that all food was made fresh daily and I was very happy with my meal and the service.
Our room was great. Comfy beds, cool a/c, modern light fixtures, clean bathrooms. The carpet is a little faded, but that is to be expected. I was actually surprised to see carpet in a hotel room, as they are more likely to go with wood floor because of the humidity in the region.
The staff has been great in helping us plan our trip and I will add to this review as the trip goes on, but I recommend it. I think a few people may have had some jetlag...a smile and a thank you go a very long way in Asia
