The palace is currently closed off to the public for renovation. Do not think it will reopen any time soon. From the exterior, the palace looks really cool. Do take a few photos if you're around the area.

this is one of the things you have to see in PP. keep in mind that ladies have to wear a t-shirt and have to cover the legs. had a small kid in the stroller with a skirt and sleevles top and they let her in no problem. i had to buy a t-shirt because the sarong i put on my should was see through and wasn't accepted. walk around the garden and breathe the magic air... the silver pagoda is in this palace

My husband and I are travelling with our 19 month old toddler - the Royal Palace is absolutely beautiful, but you'll need to get a guide or a reference book to make the most of a visit here, as there is limited information on site. Note that the Royal Palace is closed between 11am-2pm, photography is not allowed inside the buildings and we were told that we couldn't re-use our tickets to return in the afternoon. The Royal Palace was not lit up at night so photographs are best during the day.

Nice way to spend an hour or so and learn some history as well as current events. A uniformed guide approached me when I entered and offered to take me through. It was worth the 10 USD as he was knowledgeable and friendly. It made the experience more personal.

Interesting place to see, I think it was worth hiring a guide at the entrance to get more insight into the buildings & the culture. The buildings are beautiful (be careful of the opening hours)
