The buildings and grounds are superbly kept and the whole area is brightly coloured and very historical.

The palace is off limits so you have a look around the gardens and the Silver pagoda, if you are short of time give it a miss.

think it's a rip off if u pay US$6 but with many restricted areas, dunno if that's due to the khmer new year for special rituals though...and there's one room where u need to take shoes off before entering, be prepared to smell stinky feet in this boiling hot weather.

The Royal Palace is considered a must do. Yes it is very grand and the grounds impressive, but the site lacks details about its history. You have to have done your research on this place first to understand what it is all about. If on limited time get the Tuk Tuk driver to take you past it and then tick it off your list. There is a small entrance fee (sorry I can't remember exactly).

admission was expensive for being able to see less than half the grounds. Silver floor was silly, mostly covered with rugs and parts held with tape. I don't regret going but I think I could have skipped it.
