Owner description: Still the dwelling place of the king, this palace contains the Silver Pagoda, whose floor is made up of 5329 silver tiles, each weighing 1.125 kilograms.

The palace in Phnom Penh is still the residence of the present king, son of Sihanuk. At the time we visited the palace the dead king Sihanuk was kept in a Temple until the burial ceremony which would take place on February. As one can imagine many people were gathering outside the Palace to mourn. Of course we visited the Silver Pagoda (floor of silver) with the emerald Buddah inside and some other buildings with wall paintings and the seats they were carrying the royal family.

The Palace was interesting.
It was quite expensive , and I am not sure it is worth it.

It is full of tourists and very hard to get nice photos, which I know has already been said.
While we were there (Feb.2013) much of it was covered by tarps.

You MUST be wearing long pants (past the knee) and sleeves that cover your whole shoulders and the upper part of your arm. Scarves are not permitted and they will deny you entry unless you buy a shirt (which are very small). The ladies that sell them are quite mean.

Interesting, but not sure it was worth it.

it helps to have done a bit of research, or to hire a guide. There are a lot of interesting bits that are not included in the signage

Very sad to see so much wealth inside these walls and so much poverty outside. Great place tho, so many tourists, very hard to get pictures.

The entry is not cheap by Cambodian standards, $6.50 per adult but also includes entry to the Silver Pagoda. The garden are very pretty, the buildings also, you might get more out of your tour if you hire a guide.
