We spent a couple of hours at the Royal Palace and enjoyed our visit. We got there at about 3pm and had to wait about 20 minutes in the queue but once we'd paid the $6 fee and gone through it was actually fairly quiet, except when we were in the Silver Pagoda.

The throne room was closed off when we visited but you could look through the open windows. And there was one building in scaffolding but that was the only one.

One word of warning - don't go there in sleeveless t-shirts - we saw several people having to pay $6 for a white 'Royal Palace' t-shirt to cover up their arms. And if you're going there by bike or moto you can park up in a secure space just round the corner on street 240 - costs 2000 Riel each and closes at 5pm. Just pay the security guard.

Even though there were many visitors when we arrived there was little pockets where no one visited

Toilets near to the exit were not too good, guess the King never visits these.

The entry fee was USD6.25. One must be properly attired in order to enter. If you're not appropriately attired, there will be sarongs and shawls on sale for you to cover up.

The architecture is stunning and one will be in awe. There is the royal audience hall, the Emerald Buddha hall, the silver pagoda, the elephant place and many more significant halls. There is a long beautiful mural that runs around the courtyard which spans about or more than 1km.

Unfortunately there are no proper English signages to properly explain the history of the artifacts and the halls.
