This, like the Killing Fields, isn't a nice, fun experience but so so important to do. I was horrified by what went on here and I am so glad to now be well informed about the Cambodian genocide and the monstrosities that took place in order to enlighten others who were ignorant like I was before. The audio guide is pricey but important ($8 for entrance & audio guide). Plan on spending about 1-2 hours here to do it properly.

It’s interesting where this place is, it’s literally a corner block middle or residential. When you walk through the rooms you can almost sill sense them there. I don’t want to write to much in my review my words won’t do justice
Just visit

Once in Phon Phen you understand this is the place to visit. Itself is a grey old school in the middle of buildings, only thing to watch is mainly pictures. But if you take the audio guide you though the rooms you can have an idea what is humankind can do. (In negative)

It was so hard to know the historical facts of S-21, what happened to those people were so cruel and heartbreaking.
It is good that the museum provides audio service for foreigners to get to know the exhibition. It is recommended to take some time to do reflection after the visit.

For anyone who was alive during this period it is a must see to understand how Cambodia got to where it is at present.
The History surrounding this period and this place are horrifying, eye opening, very sad and makes you aware of the futility and useless waste of life that regimes like Pol Pot's can bring to a nation because of one man's madness. It will take Cambodia many many decades to rise again to its former glory because of this blight non their history.
