Being a 5 star hotel, you don't expect any less from an Intercontinental... Good clean rooms, large breakfast selection, a nice swimming pool & fitness center, but what clinched it for us was the price. We got a double room for $150 inclusive of taxes & breakfast. There was no other 5 star hotel in that price range, so it was almost a default choice.

If you see the official city map (http://www.tourismcambodia.com/ftp/high-res-maps/Hi-Res-PhnomPenh-Map.jpg), most of the attractions are on the center-right side of the map (royal palace, silver pagoda, national museum, independence monument), and others are still further up like the wat phnom. That area also has tons of restaurants, cafes, super markets also. So whether it was for the tourist attractions or the meals, we always ended up in that area. That area also has many hotels like the FCC etc. so in hindsight it would have been better to stay in that area.

In a relatively small city with everything within $2 tuk-tuk ride away ($1 p.p.), it did not matter so much, but one evening we did not feel like going again to the 'city center' for a meal, and there was absolutely nothing within walking distance from the hotel, so we ended up ordering room service...

Room Tip: Higher floors have great views over the city. If you take rooms on the swimming pool side, then ther...

InterCon Phnom is typical and predictable.

Some positives were the high staff to guest ratio and a very responsive manager. We had arrived very late due to an issue with our plane and the manager sorted us out a proper meal in our suite. Additionally, he was able to procure a glorious bottle of wine for us to cap off a very long day.

The only drawback seemed to be an issue with the plumbing in our room. The water simply did not want to drain.

One other caution: This hotel attracts an incredible number of tour groups. Annoying!

Room Tip: They do allow smoking here. Be warned.

stayed here last year, since then, much improved. I stay on the exec. club floors in most hotels, just an fyi, that's my normal pt of reference. And I travel on business. Value for money here is excellent, service outstanding, and staff on club floor v. responsive. I can't say much about location (in terms of sightseeing), sorry, since I don't have time to do sightseeing. There does not seem to be much around the hotel (in terms of taking a stroll...) And it is certainly an older, somewhat dated facility (hence the 4 instead of 5 stars from me). but would definitely recommend and return.

We were placed in this hotel by our tour company. I would not recommend this to tourists . It is far from the action of this bustling city. Hotel is high quality and service is the usual quality of SE Asia
Main complaint is NO free Wifi which is unacceptable for tourists

Over christmas my wife and myself stayed here for 3 nights . The hotel is up to date and is well kept . The staff are very attentive and when we had trouble getting hold of our tour company the head concierge Makara Muth went to a great deal of effort to find alternative phone numbers and assisted in confirming our bookings. On the days following he continued to make sure everything was going to plan on our holiday every time we saw him.

We had a very pleasant two day stay at this hotel. It is a little away from the humdrum of touristy downtown and city centre, which makes it quite peaceful. The had lovely christmas decorations when we went and the hotel had a festive look and feel to it. The deluxe room we stayed in was spacious with twin beds and a nice bathroom with a tub and a separate shower area. The rooms have no view to speak of since they either overlook the road or the adjacent buildings, but are quite comfortable. The large flat screen TV was a bonus!! The staff was decent. Breakfast was a fairly large spread. The lobby is quite plush and aesthetically done. Being a Priority Club Member, we were even allowed a late check out which I was very thankful for since it gave us a chance to come back from our tour and relax for a while before leaving for the airport.

We stayed two nights at this hotel and celebrated New Years here. This is a luxury hotel which does truly try to provide service with a professional attitude. We were travelling as a family and had two rooms. Both had comfortable beds and pillows. We had a News Years buffet dinner in their dining room which was far too much delicious food to negotiate and then moved to the bar to enjoy dancing and the countdown. The kitchen staff joined everyone for the last few minutes and there was a sense of warmth and bestwishes. We left one piece of luggage at the hotel as were were going on the Siem Reap. They kindly looked after this for us. One complaint - no FREE wifi.
