Located on 136 Street, by the river front, 69 Bar is one of a half dozen or so hostess bars probably catering to mostly foreigners.
They all looked like your typical dive bar, with a bunch of young (maybe 20 to 30 year olds) hanging out front. I chose 69 Bar because it was mentioned in my travel guide.
Inside it was dark and somewhat loud. The girls walk around and try to catch your eye, and will sit and talk with you (hoping you'll buy them a drink, leave them a tip, or ask them for a "date"). I spent about an hour there, talking with one pretty girl about life in Cambodia. Cost was $6 for 2 beers (for me) and a drink for the young lady, plus another $4 tip for the young lady and the waitress.
Lastly, 69 Bar seemed to be a safe and honest (meaning they didn't try to pad the bill) place for anyone to visit.
Oh, I left before things start to get wilder -- dancing on the bar every hour on the hour starting at 9am (and the place closes at 3am), and a Ladyboy Show advertised for Thursday nights only.
