Then join us for dinner and then at night time do something positive. Then in the evening do something positive by attending our crawl for School event. The Crawl for School is a weekly pub crawl designed for young tourists and backpackers. Wrist bands cost $5 and provide you half priced drinks all night, 100% of your $5 wristband is used to fund education projects for poor kids in Cambodia. The event starts at the Mad Monkey rooftop bar in Phnom Penh every Thursday night, then hits Top Banana and Love Bar. It is great night out and a great way to donate to kids education in Cambodia. As being in Phnom Penh you have to visit The Killing Fields, a 30 minutes ride in a Tuk-Tuk. Use the electronic guide and hear the story of insanity and humand misdeads. Hard, but educational.

The killing fields and S21 portray the worst that mankind can achieve. This will surely rock your foundations and leave an indelible mark to your visit in Cambodia.

A guided tour is strongly recommended for both places (check your guide's level of English / French prior to the visit)

This is on a par with the KGB Museum. A tribute to man's inhumanity to man. We visited one of the many killing fields in Cambodia as well as an interrogation center. Over 2 million executed for the crimes of being intellectual, anti-party or by whim. There were mass graves all over the place with up to 450 in one grave. There was a memory hall with nearly 10,000 skulls. Bones and clothing keep coming to the surface of the mass graves with each monsoon season.
The interrogation center was a school that was converted to cells for prisoners with barbed wire over the balconies to keep prisoners from committing suicide by jumping to the concrete below.

The trip to this field makes you want to cry. Very emotional and its real and Part of their history. You wonder if united nations really understood what was happening there. There is a nominal fee for this and it is worth it.

A very moving experience. It's a part of Cambodia's darkest time that needs be known to the world. This was an eye opener for me and quite an experience. I would recommend you get a guide once there ($6 US), we had an older gentleman who was very insightful and knowledgable, he grew up as a child during Pol Pots regime. It must be noted this might not be for all, it's very confronting.
