Phnom Penh has quite a small night market, but it's nice and the best thing about it is to have tons of cheap and tasty food from the local stalls.

The street food stalls have the freshest and yummiest food. This place is big but well set out. Open Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays.

We enjoyed walking through the night market. The market is located right net to Pub Street so it is convenient to grab a bite or have a drink and then roam the stalls and shops o the market.

We wanted to visit this market to try the food stalls that we had read about. The stalls are set up in a U shape around a large area of mats on the floor. The stall proprietor handed us a basket and a pair of tongs to choose our food and he indicated that he would then prepare it. How this would work was not hugely obvious - some people had stir fry, some soup and some had their selections simply fried/reheated. It was a bit of a mystery bag trying to work out what exactly some of the food options were - our 'like chicken' turned out to be 'Parsons nose' fried on a skewer and our 'like beef' was fried liver. The fried crumbed prawns were delicious though they were crumbed and deep fried complete with head, tail and shell. Once your food is prepared you sit on one of the mats and eat. There are baskets of condiments randomly placed that you can add to your meal. The price for each item/meal is a bit unclear but it is not expensive by any means - a couple of dollars at most for the entire meal.
It is a local food and you share the experience with Cambodian families out for the night. We enjoyed this very much. There is a band and entertainment playing as well.
The market itself is a replica of every other market with the same products available so nothing particularly special about this.
