These 3 words sum up our experience at this lovely hotel - the same 3 words can't be applied to much else in Phnom Penh.

As others have said, this is a small boutique hotel with different themes in each of the rooms (which are really more apartments than rooms).

Our apartment had a kitchen, enormous living area, separate bedroom and separate bathroom with the toilet and shower in separate areas to the main vanity and mirrors. So yes - it's spacious.

There is a wonderful restaurant and bar upstairs on the top floor with great views over the area; which also has a lovely cool breeze that blows through to keep you refreshed while you enjoy breakfast or cocktails in the evening.

The surrounding neighbourhood is really popular with Western tourists, which is clearly reflected in the number of sleazy bars, lady boys, hookers and low-rent redneck Western men chasing them down. If you have an innocent mind you may not even notice them...they know their targets and conservative travellers are not it. So don't let this comment put you off what is otherwise a wonderful place to stay.

Phnom Penh is sleazy - this hotel isn't...it's wonderful.

Only downside - no pool or gym. It could do with one or both of these...

We are returning for our 5th stay in August-I love everything about this hotel. Rooms/Suites are amazing. I stay in a different one each stay as all are unique. Chris the manger is wonderful and makes sure we are well taken care. of. Socheth at the front desk takes care of our reservations and requests on a daily basis and each request is met with smile. Room are luxurious, well appointed comfortable. I Love having the kitchen. Wifi a fast connection(Thank you!) The rooftop bar is an oasis and the food is excellent. I am staying 8 nights in August and it is my home in Phnom Penh. Thank you all.

Room Tip: My favorites are Midnight in Paris & Casablanca

La Maison d'Ambre, is a good choice for a hotel in Phnom Penh. The rooms are spacious, there is an extensive wifi network and the rooftop bar / dining area is pretty cool.

The staff were very polite and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and they organised a bottle of champagne for us as we were on our honeymoon - which was really nice of them.

The location is so-so, it's a short walk to the main tourist areas, we ended up taking tuk tuks everywhere as the heat was oppressive when waking more than 5 minutes.

The only issue we had was that the bed was rock hard, we prefer softer beds so we didn't sleep that well.

Room Tip: Higher rooms are less noisy

This hotel is an oasis in a sea of sweltering madness...!!! We initially booked for 2 nights but ended up staying for 5 nights. All the rooms have a different theme which sounds cheesy but its not. Contemporary lobby, and modern well equipped bedrooms. Food is great and the roof top terrace bar is stunning both during the day ans at sunset. We particularly enjoyed using the 1960s perspex bubble seats hanging from chains on the rooftop terrace.. :)
The air conditioning in the lobby was a life saver on several occasions, Central location, easy access to all the local restaurants, tuk tuk drivers at the door, and a great market 200 yards away. Only slight complaint is that the mattress was very firm but we slept very well non the less.
I was ill on the last day so the staff arranged for medicines from a local pharmacy and allowed me to use a spare room to get a couple of hours much needed rest so a belated thanks guys.
Highly recommended

Room Tip: One of the rooms, I cant remember which one, has a great balcony, so ask...!!!

My second review as this little oasis needs to be shared ! I have lived in Asia for 12 years and this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in - simply amazing in every way. Each room has it's own unique design and the attention to detail combined with pure luxury and practical living space exceed expectations. The staff has mainly come from disadvantaged backgrounds and Mr Chris the manager has invested care and time in their training and development, consequently they are proud and passionate about the work they do and go out their way to make your stay the best it can be.Aesthetically, there is no comparison, all the rooms are personally designed by the Cambodian designer Romyda Keth and her talented business partner Thomas. All bedding, cushions and many of the homeware has been designed and made in the workshop of their Ambre shop. Since my last visit I was delighted to find that they now have a homeware shop selling these fabulous items :-) Sunset cocktails on the rooftop are a must and on our last night we had a fabulous dinner overlooking the city and Buddhist temple. Phnom Penh is a city struggling to erase it's past, this hotel symbolises the hope and potential of it's future, there is no better place to stay.A massive thank you to Mr Chris and his staff, especially the helpful and professional Reaksmey on the front desk.
