“Wonderful!”

Lovely food and wonderful atmosphere. I always enjoy dining at places that are established to help provide skill training. Food came out quickly and the service was excellent.

“Great food for a great cause”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

We have gone to the restaurant above Daughters of Cambodia, which is called Sugar and Spice, three times in a row now and the food is amazing! Not only is the food great the organization is helping girls that have been caught up in the trafficking scene in Cambodia. The do a great iced latte and a great banoffee shake. I have had the eggs benedict and florentine and my partner has had the BLT and all of it was so tasty. Would definitely recommend to eat here!!

“Microwave quiche”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

I thought the shop was lovely and the ambiance and decoration of the cafe were very well done. I ordered the frappuccino which was very tasty and my son had the Chai tea latte which he thought was very good. The down side for both of us was when we decided to try the quiche, we asked what kinds they had and chose the bacon. Perhaps we should have asked what else was in the quiche but we have had so many lovely French style quiches in Phnom Penh we assumed it would be of the same European standard and quality.
When the quiche came it was full of red pepper and other vegetables, however my son cannot eat red pepper and it was impossible to extract any quiche from the pepper. The pastry was hot because it had come from a microwave, but this also meant it was soggy. There was also a layer of cheese melted on top of the quiche (think of a baked potato in a microwave with a big slice of cheese melted on it). All in all for our taste a bit of a disaster.
The waitress asked why we had not eaten it but I don't think her English was sophisticated enough for us to explain the finer detail.
Now I understand what this organization does and my criticism is to try and help them not to just whine about the food. So what they can do to help customers make a better choice is to be more explicit about what goes into their quiche.
For example in the menu write that it is a light short crust pastry case filled with an egg and cream filling with either: bacon, red pepper, broccoli and onion or .......
Hopefully you can get the gist of what I mean.
Also offer the choice of having pastry's microwaved or not, people who like pastry often do not like it microwaved and are quite happy to have cold pastry so that it retains it's flaky nature.

If you find yourself in Phnom Penh anytime soon, you won't find a much better cafe-style lunch! The BLT was awesome. Great french fries!

Hi Drewwagg,

Thank you for your glowing review of our cafe. However, from your photo, it looks like you actually enjoyed lunch at the second branch of our cafe — the Sugar 'n Spice Garden Cafe, which is near the Russian Market (as opposed to the Riverside location of this listing).

We would certainly love to have you review the Sugar 'n Spice Garden Cafe, as it is relatively new and has fewer reviews.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Thank you again for having lunch with us and taking the time to share your feedback.

Best,

Amanda King
