Description: Healthy, clean and cool cafe in Phnom Penh with two locations - one near Wat Lanka on Street 51 and a larger cafe with outdoor seating on Street 294. We offer Asian fusion food and are famous in Cambodia for our pick your own salad bar, bagels, chocolate brownies and recently introduced falafel on pitas. We rolled out a new menu in November 2013 with more sandwich options.

Was great to find a vegetarian (there is some fish/crustacean on the menu) salad bar. Great selection of wraps, stir fry and bagels. It is a little more expensive than most haunts in Cambodia, but was very clean and had some free wifi. Noticed a lot do ex-pats coming for takeaway.
Ate here twice and had 2 completely different experiences with reards to service. First time was A1, second time (later in the evening) took a lot longer for service - so average score overall.
Boyfriend had a fish stir-fry and complained about lack of fish in his dish, so maybe better for vegetarians only

There's a new one on 294 street near the corner of Sotheoros Blvd. They have about five types of bagels, including one with black sesame seeds. Their whole wheat breads and salads are very good, too.

On Pasteur Street 51 near all the boutique hotels is this refreshing restaurant, very similar to the American salad bar chains like Just Salad and Chop't. They have different fixed salad options, bagel sandwiches (with all sorts of bagels including plain, onion, white and black sesame, garlic and pepper, among others), wraps, brunch options including pancake, and fresh juices, drinks and desserts. You can also build your own salad with different types of fresh vegetables, dairy (various types of cheeses including goat, feta, mozzarella, cream, and parmesan), protein (smoked salmon, salmon, tuna, crab meat, prawn, and sun-dried tomatoes), and dressings. The staff is very meticulous with the food, and everything looks absolutely fresh and clean. The manager, Ptaeoek is very attentive and observes the staff closely as they prepare the orders. A healthy choice to have in mind while visiting Phnom Penh.

I was so excited to find a "make you own salad" place in Phnom Penh, but this place is way overrated. They barely have any kinds of protein for your salads, and NO chicken. Cheese costs $1 extra. There aren't many options for the vegetable toppings and still costs almost $4 for a protein-less salad.

Tip: if you do like this place and go often, they have a punch card that will get you $4 off after 10 visits.

Dear J Kraska,

Thank you for your review. We are very sorry to see your description of Vego. Our basic concept is to serve fresh vegetarian food (with some seafood as an alternative). We made a decision not to serve meat/chicken, so its hard for us to add chicken to our menu.

We have expanded our menu quite substantially to offer more proteins - please check out our new location at Street 294. We are considering our prices for the cheese and appreciate the comment. We also are happy that you mentioned our punch card. Please stop by our new location - and ask for one of the owners or supervisors. We would like to meet you and extend our apologies for your previous experience.

All the best,

Vego Management

The staff are very unprofessional. They don't work but chit chat to much between them self. I order my salad with walnut but end up almost bite into a broken shell of the walnut every little bite. You ask about the sauce they don't know nothing about it. But still go for chatting between them. I told the waitress about the shell of the nut. She say sorry but she is pulling a long face after she clear the table. Really bad.
