I recommend a visit to Chi Phat to anyone who wants is interested in seeing a real rural village in southern Cambodia.
I took the 4-day / 3-night trek joining six other tourists The first and last nights were at a home stay with a family in their stilt house.
One the second day, we hiked out into the forest where we slept in hammocks under a thatched roof hut in the forest. We hiked back the next day.
All meals were taken care of for us and were both tasty and nutritious. Our guide and all of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
There are many other options available at Chi Phat, including longer treks, mountain bike tours, or just staying in the village.
This is the part of Cambodian village life that many people would like to see but don't know how.
All local arrangements are provided by CBET (Community-Based Eco Tourism), which helps to bring support to the villagers without exploiting them.
