“Nice hotel”
Reviewed February 9, 2014

This was the first hotel we stayed in on our trip to Asia so at the time we didn't have anything to compare it to. The hotel arranged a taxi to meet us at the airport which was helpful. I would recommend using a tuk tuk to get around the city. We walked everywhere and apart from taking your life in your hands trying to cross 8 lanes of traffic, going in all directions, I had my bag snatched by a passing moped rider and passenger. It was across my shoulder but the strap snapped and they got away with a few dollars and a small camera. If we had gone out to eat by tuk tuk maybe this wouldn't have happened. The staff were very sympathetic but we knew there was nothing that could be done and we didn't let it spoil our stay. I did think the bed was hard here, probably the hardest of any of the places we ended up staying.

We recently spent 8 days at this hotel on a combined holiday and business trip. Its an excellent 3 star choice. The location is quiet, away from the tourist night scene, but still quite close to the river, off Monivong Blvd on a quiet side street that carries relatively little traffic. Rooms are large and well furnished with good AC, flat screen TV. Only downside is the net door neighbour - a daycare that is full of SCREAMING children at 7 AM. If you plan to be up at that hour anyway, its not a big problem. But sleeping in might be difficult! There are a number of good restaurants nearby, including the Orchidee right across the road. Also a couple of supermarkets just a block away, along with banks and other services you might need. The staff were VERY helpful; one lent me a SIM card for the 8 days we were in Cambodia. I would definitely stay here again when in Phnom Penh.

Room Tip: Ask for second floor, on the East side (away from the day care centre.

I am a regular visitor in Phnom Penh and I found this nice hotel through Booking.com. This hotel cost me $ 46 for a junior suite and it was great - quiet, very helpful staff, good room, rain shower, 80 channel TV, air conditioning, and one of the best hotel breakfasts you could hope for in this price range. The rooms are excellent spacious and nicely decorated.

Breakfast is a menu choice of about 20 options that are cooked according to the order (omelettes, bacon and eggs, noodle soup, rice porridge etc), fresh orange juice, fresh fruit platter and real coffee.

10 mins slow walk to the river and a 15 minute walk to the main riverfront restaurant area. Tuktuks are at the door that will take you for a few dollars anywhere. This hotel is where I like to come back.

the hotel location is not its advantage, however, the friendly staff made it the best choice.
the room is clean and spacy. the shower is very good.
the staff is very attentive and always ready to help.
the rooms are without balcony or comfortable sittings which may be improved in the future.

Pros
- good location to initiate visits to silver pagoda, national museum and both markets and nightlife
- nice and stylish interior, cosy seatings on the way to the room, we liked the building
- super friendly and helpful staff, we made a last minute booking (same day) they were kind enough to book us a similar room at another hotel for the same price as the following nights at Royal Mekong
- room was very spacious (we stayed in an executive suite) and clean, nice balcony and lighting, good bathroom and cosy romstic bed, facilities sufficed

Cons
- bed was a bit uncomfortable, brick hard
- it was hard to keep shower at same temperature, switched continuously
- breakfast could be improved
- bathtub a bit small for tall European people
- minibar and room overall are pricy, expected to get a bit more luxurious touch for the price we paid

Although I didn't need a lot of help, the staff was eager to assist me with all my questions. They arranged my bus ticket to Siem Riap, gave me advice on where to eat and were fun to chat with. The hotel is conveniently located to all major sights. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Highly recommended!

I stayed here for 3 nights end of Nov, large room although bit dated, staff frendly, basic breakfast, free inet in rooms.
Downtown location, better area is riverside, although only 2$ in tuk-tuk to get there, or 15min walk.
For 37$ a night can't really complain!
Getting from airport in taxi or tuk-tuk is a pain due to the terrible traffic, & lot of drives not knowing this hotel.

Phnom Penh has improved a lot & the locals are pretty frendly, most speak reasonable English, but the place is still bit of a dump in my opionon

Room Tip: No lift, but as building is only 2 floors not really problem walking up the stairs Noise from kinde...
