“Excellent Food, Excellent Staff & Stylish Decor!”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

I went to Cambodia for the first time this year and stayed at Le Safran for a total of 10 days in March. I absolutely loved my stay here. First up, for this price, which is neither too cheap nor too steep, it is a steal for what you get. The rooms are extremely clean, very artistically designed, yet not over the top. Food, the food is excellent. Yes while In Phnom Penh you do want to be eating around the city, but the kitchen churns out some delicious meals especially their prawn dishes (My colleague and I asked them to a prawn with kampot pepper which was excellent!) the Breakfast which is included in the room charge includes a flaky, delicious pain au chocolat/croissant, juice/fruit plate, coffee and eggs. Now on to the staff, everyone is friendly, respectful and helpful. The owner takes an active role in running the hotel and we were told also cooks in the kitchen! To sum, up, I'd stay here again and would, hands down, recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Phnom Penh. And oh, its VERY centrally located!

Booked three nights here in advance, on the recommendation of an ex-pat friend in the city. The day I arrived, there was unfortunately a power cut on the block. I was greeted at the gate, received sincere apologies from the (very glamorous) owner, and sent on a complimentary tuk-tuk around the block to a (very comfortable) sister property. They brought me back in the morning, and comp'd my first night's stay. Hotel is very smartly designed - think white walls, cultured-cement floors, and splashes of colour and Cambodian art work carefully placed throughout the property. Brunch was fantastic - baskets of fresh pastries, strong coffee, fresh fruits, omelettes made to order. Staff was extremely helpful and very friendly with small requests (laundry, pool towels). Would stay here again in a flash

My wife and I stayed in this small hotel twice last month. First when we arrived in Phnom Penh and second when we returned from Siem Reap. On first encountering the hotel, it seemed somewhat sparse and minimalistic. But we quickly learned that it was very comfortable with a helpful staff, great breakfast, and good location. We had the hotel arrange for a driver to pick us up from the airport on both of our arrivals. Good choice since it saved time and trouble. The hotel's tuk tuk drivers were good. But the staff were the best. We weren't the easiest guests and they accommodated our needs quickly and with a smile.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms in the back are dark and really have no view. So request an upstairs room wh...

Nice little hotel set in a side street in Phnom Penn.We were expecting a room overlooking the pool but this was not available so we had a room on the side of the building.A little disappointing however it was very clean and quiet complete with good quality toiletries ,hair dryer etc.The little hotel has lovely pieces of furniture in the public areas. There is also a small shop where all the profits go to a charity.Outside the building is a lovely pool and well kept gardens.A wonderful restaurant completes the hotel .We found the food extremely good and reasonably priced. The staff at this little place are really attentive and appear to be very proud of their positions at the hotel.Would we stay here again? Yes but we were the only English there at that time .

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool as they are much bigger.Make certain that it is available at tim...

We stayed here with our 3 year old son and loved it. We had a double room with a balcony which had enough room to put a mattress on the floor for him, and after we returned to PP from Kep, we had a triple room with balcony. The pool is small, clean and perfect for a dip after a day out and about. The breakfast was great (coffee was good!) and plenty of it to start the day. The staff were fabulous, and nothing was too much trouble. They always had a smile on their faces and were happy to help, even calling locally to check up on river boat rides for us. The location is excellent, right by the Independence monument but down a side street opposite Wat Lanka so surprisingly quiet for being so central. There are many little cafes to eat at nearby and the riverfront is just a short tuk tuk ride away. I would definitely stay here again and I'll be recommending it to my friends when they visit!

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms with a balcony are light and overlook the pool, book these if you think you'll be d...

A small quiet hotel near the Independance Monument with very friendly and helpful staff, and excellent food. We stayed in the suite which was large and beautifully furnished, not too extravagant, just right. The suite was upstairs on the first floor and had a balcony which was perfect for sitting with a cup of tea and relaxing after exploring the city. The restaurant was indoor and outdoor, sitting in the warming morning air for breakfast was a great way to start a day. The pool was not big but big enough, very inviting. A world away from large corporate hotels it was exactly what we wanted. It was hard to leave and definitely a place to return to. Pay that little extra and stay in one of the more expensive rooms, it is still very cheap compared to Western hotel prices. I read the poor reviews before booking an noticed that they all seem to be based on a few years ago and previous owners.

Room Tip: Not expensive so definitely worth booking one of the more expensive rooms.

I had read some bad reviews of the cheapest rooms here, but in fact they were much better than I expected. They are dark, yes, but spacious and everything is spotlessly clean. The decor is very simple, lots of white, and very nicely done. The more expensive rooms are beautiful, very big with balconies over looking Wat Langka. Unlike some other boutique hotels in PP, it also feels Khmer, with statues and pieces of artwork from Cambodia. The pool and surrounding area is really nice, even though the pool is small (not one for doing lengths), and they have made a very good use of the outdoor space they have. Breakfast was excellent - very fresh and quick, with a few different options.

Room Tip: The $38 rooms are quite small and don't have windows, but are fine if you are expecting to be ou...
