Owner description: The Flicks Community Movie Theaters are the most unique locations in Phnom Penh where you can enjoy the blockbusters, documentaries and the classics on a big wide screen, in "uber-comfy" air conditioned movie rooms, from before there were big cineplexes. The Big Flicks 1 on Street 95 is the legendary little movie theater from the time there was no other big screen in town, located in an original wooden Cambodian house and features an all air conditioned bar and a leafy outside terrace. Its movie room seats 32 people. The Flicks 2 is its little brother in the city center and also screens the must-see movie for all visitors, The Killing Fields, daily in its 16 seats movie room, located on the 2nd floor of a backpackers hotel. Enjoy your movies for only $3.50 per day, with a drink, snacks and homemade fresh popcorn available at the bars! Welcome home!

On a Saturday or Sunday you can literally spend the whole day here, watch 4 or 5 movies and it will only cost you $3.50! The cinema room is really really comfy and cozy and they also have all your favourite cinema snacks. Many of the staff are volunteers from around the world, and everyone was very friendly. I liked that many of the movies were ones I wouldn't have seen otherwise, and you should definitely make a point of catching The Killing Fields while you are in Phnom Penh. Take a jumper, snuggle up in the delicious aircon and escape the stresses of Asia for a while!

As many other people, used this as an opportunity to see The Killing Fields again. (A film that has not dated - worth seeing a second time). Get there in time to get the mattresses at the front.

A different experience all together which is difficult to find anywhere else. You may have big cinema hall but this is a small community theatre playing some exceptional movies specially some perfect fits for the backpackers. I watched Beach, On my way and The Killing Fields as I got free from the city tour around 4 pm so just landed up here. Food is also good and staff very friendly. The lower two seats are obviously the best ones as you can just lie down and watch movies full day. Good place to meet fellow travellers !

Went to see The Killing Fields. Great lounge seats and unique way of seeing the film and great accompaniment to seeing the related Kymer Rouge places. Not too hot when I visited although there was some noise from the next door hostel. For $3.50 you can't complain!

We went to see the Killing Fields at Flicks 2. It was necessary to make a reservation on their website and arrive 15 minutes beforehand to pay.

As another reviewer said - this is not the most comfortable experience unless you are on the two lower levels on the cushions. We were in one of the three wicker sofa levels and after an hour of sitting it was incredibly uncomfortable. The small AC unit meant for a bedroom couldn't keep up with the 25 people and it was uncomfortably hot throughout. To add to this discomfort the blaring bar next door had karaoke and house music that we could easily hear. This all took away from the movie.

I'd suggest getting there early to be on one of the lower levels and be prepared for some additional noise from next door.

The movie was pretty good quality but was off a bit with the audio.

Dear Eric and Sarah,

Thank you for your review of The Flicks 2 and the evening you have experienced there.

Unfortunately we have no power on what hour neighbors do music wise, but normally they tend not to start before 11pm.

Regarding the AC we have noticed this problem for the last two days only and today this is all being fixed. We have a 2 horsepower AC unit in the movie room (which is about 5x stronger than an ordinary bedroom conditioner) and it was showing its signs of struggle. It's all getting renewed as I type this message, so any follow-up visit or future visits by others will not experience this problem.

I totally understand that it can make your experience very uncomfortable. Thanks again for your review and letting us know through our staff.
