“Good quality at a reasonable price, good location and great staff”
Reviewed February 23, 2014

The hotel is well furnished with a ground floor bar and restaurant which is good value. It is located within walking distance of the Musem and Palace and the river front.
The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much for them. Many of the guests were well travelled and it was good to exchange experiences.
Breakfast was a bit basic but they will provide scambled eggs etc upon request.
When in the city a visit to the prison is interesting but very sad. I'd recommend a twilight cruise on the Tonie Sap River - a great experience.

Room Tip: There is a lift to the floors.

After a 16 hour journey we arrived at 8am, having paid for the previous nights accommodation as part of a package deal. Despite this, the rude staff at the front desk were denying us access to the breakfast buffet. They said you could only eat there if you checked in the previous night.. but we had paid for the room! This went back and forth until they offered us a *special* discounted rate of $5 USDpp. Forget it! We ate at a cafe down the road. They took us to a room and despite requesting a twin room numerous times got a double room (I was travelling with my father). So we had to relocate to another floor with our bags.

Rooms are basic but clean, bathroom was nice and new. They only give you one room card so when you go out all power stops working. This means your phones and batteries charging stop and all the drinks in the fridge get hot. We asked for another card and it took about 4 attempts to get it to work correctly as they were programming it wrong.

The breakfast buffet was dismal and there were cockroaches crawling up the wall near the food. Very off putting.

Overall, this is a 2 star hotel that is overpriced. For similar accommodation I paid a third of the price in Ho Chi Minh city and the staff there bent over backwards to be of service to you.

Only plus is its location, only a 5 to 10 minute walk to the waterfront of Sisowath Quay and National Museum, Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the road, we got one overlooking a construction site and had the view of a kit...

My husband and I have just returned from this hotel, overall we were very happy with our stay here. We did not know what to expect upon arriving here but we were pleasantly surprised. It was in a great location and within walking distance to the palace and river front. The room was very clean and it was comfortable. The breakfast didn't have a large choice of food but we found it to be adequate. If we returned to Phnom Penh we would definitely stay here again. Great value for money also.

Stayed twice in early January 2014 having stayed here last February 2013.
perhaps the rooms are a little dated this time and need a freshen up but this hotel is good !
The staff very helpful the location great.. close to everything that you need to see in Phnom
Pehn. the room was clean the hotel resteraunt serves good food at reasonable prices..internet connection in the room was ok, ,the breakfast could be improved a little but overall i would return to the Silver River on my next visit to Phnom Pehn
If you want a quiet room then ask for a back room
The rooms on the front are a little extra but have a balcony overlooking the street and I have found that when you shut the doors to the balcony that the room is relatively quiet.
Hotel taxi to and from the airport US$10 but worth the small extra payment as its hassle free door to door.

The SilverRiver Hotel in Phnom Pehn has everything going for it. Great location, great staff and good rooms at a reasonable price. It is located a five minute walk from the riverside dining/drinking area. To get there you can walk through the markets and see ordinary Cambodians going about their working business. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean. I found that in the morning, even if you pop out for 30mins, as soon as you get back you find that your room has been cleaned. Outside are a regular bunch of tuk tuk drivers who are friendly and not aggressive/pushy. One in particular is very nice and reliable, called Channy, who I pretty much used for all my trips in my 4 days in PP.

I stayed at Silver River for 3 nights and enjoyed my stay there. The included breakfast wasn't the best I had in my stay in Cambodia, but that isn't much to go by. The staff were very friendly and helpful when we asked about places to go and how to get there. The room was clean and had a nice view of the city (I stayed on the 5th floor) and the lift was reliable. The street the hotel is on has great local restaurants with very low prices and the noise was minimal at night. It was also extremely close to Tonle Sap, the National Museum, the Royal Palace, and great riverside restaurants. Tuk Tuks to both the Central and Russian Markets were also cheap and fast. All in all - great location, friendly staff, clean room and great value. As a couple we payed $135 for 3 nights. I would go back to River River if I ever return to Cambodia.

The Hotel Silver River had the most beautiful rooms of all hotels in which I had stayed during my trip in Cambodia. Silver River is a very clean hotel and from my point of view it is located in one of the best spots in Phnom Penh. The Hotel is NOT located on the Riverfront but rather close to the Royal Palace, Nationalmuseum, restaurants, pubs and a pleasant walk (15 to 20 minutes) from the Central Market.
Principally I dissuade to book a room in one of the hotels on the Riverfront because there are many beggars, street hawker, dealer and it is a notorious area for bag snatching as well.
There is a kettle, a fridge, cable TV, phone, AC (quiet), free WIFI, en suite bathroom as well as a safe in the room. 2 free bottles of water per day and the breakfast is included in the price. I suggest to book in advance with hotels.com so that you can save from 10 to 20% off the regular price. Hotels.com offers 10% coupon almost every month, which you can find onine.
