We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. It is at a very central location (The Pub St of Phnom Penh).Service is efficient, hotel is clean and breakfast is to our taste. There are many restaurants around and the riverside is nearby.

had a hard time initially selecting e accomodation as there are many favourable stays in the city... eventually narrow down to silver river due to its location and reviews... no mistake!

the address could be a problem, i failed to call thru the hotel number and that gave mi a scare... street 172 is long and u need to get to the correct side... a welcome drink at during check-in that was certainly not expected but appreciated after a long search :D speedy checkin and within minutes, i was in my room... fortunate to get a corner room with balcony! room was small but comfortable as i am solo... mini fridge, safe box and basic toiletries provided and free wifi, fantastic... complimentary breakfast offered simple decent local and western with fruits, good enough! restaurant is not big so do expect crowds if you are down during the "peak hours"... across the front desk, two public computers across and reading area are available...

location is nearest to the royal palace/silver pagoda, national museum with minutes walk, i would say quite centrally located to most places of interest. restaurants are everywhere so there's a spolit of choices and it depends on what you like, no problems with transportation as well...

service wise, polite staffs who speaks satisfactory english if not better... helpful with questions about the city attractions... the massage center up the stairs outside offers some good solid massages, had 2 friendly masseuses massaging me was quite an enjoyment but you need to request them to lighten their strength if you are those subtle ones...

some places offered swimming pool but overall, good stay and would recommend to travellers of all range... would be back for sure next time in pp!

Room Tip: is along a street but not that noisy... corner rooms are best

Stayed 3 nights here in August 2013,nice and friendly staff. The breakfast was very basic, but i found that the norm throughout Cambodia.
The room I had was a balcony room, which was comfortable but very small, ideal for a solo traveler but would be a bit squashy with 2 people.
Easy to get around room this area.
Would i stay there again?Well it was well presented and the staff were nice and helpfull, but im sure there are better rooms about for the same price.
Oh and the website says there is a rooftop pool....sorry,a rooftop laundry.

Room Tip: Get the balcony room, not a great room but at least u get to sit outside and relax with a beer.

We arrived in Phnom Penh by bus, and riding through the streets looking at the garbage piled up, weren't even sure we wanted to stay. However, the staff at Silver River was helpful and attentive so we decided to give Phnom Penh a chance. The room was fine. Maybe a little "smoky" smelling. The breakfast each day was fine, nothing fancy but filling and yes, eggs cooked to order. Wifi in the rooms was glitchy but at the main floor there are 2 computers for use.

Our first day, we asked the desk staff to arrange an all day tuk-tuk driver for us. They did so and he was a gem. Day one we did the "sad" stuff - S-21 prison, Killing Fields, and he waited patiently and added any information he knew about them. Day two, we wanted to see the Palace, and then asked the driver what else he recommended. He made sure we saw Wat Phnom, which was gorgeous, and then took us on a drive through a beautiful Chinese cemetery, where he got out and explained a lot to us, and then across the river to see new hotel developments and the new water treatment plant.

The hotel is near some great restaurants - we ate at the Blue Dolphin and the Laughing Buddha, both good, and the one on the corner.... name I can't remember.... sorry. But all food good. We also checked out the Kingdom Brewery, which is GREAT!

We ended up really liking Phnom Penh!

I booked directly via hotel's website, 1 adult, 1 child, rate at $36,

I checked in at 16:00, 8th August 2014. No welcome feeling, no welcome drink. (a $20/night hotel in Siem Reap has welcome drink, the GM came to say hello +free airport pick up and drop off, free daily tuk tuk to the Night Market.)
The Receptionist showed his long face as somebody has put the gun in his head force him to go to work. So we carry all the luggage to the room without any assistant. The room is old, lack of maintenance, paint peel of the wall (see photos for more details).
We have only 1 night in Phnom Penh so we decided to experience the surrounding right after we drop the suitcase.
Came back to the room after 2hrs. The room smell like you are deep inside the sump!!! We can even breath!
I called the reception, asked if they could come and check it out. After 10 minutes, no body show up, so I went down and see the long face receptionist again, he told me that I should get back to the room, he will come (what is that?) but I wait for him, he took some smell killer and soap spray bottle and drag his body to the lift.
Arrive to the shower room, he tried to spray the room, I told him about the smell trap in the drain is broken, therefore the smell come up from the sump tank, spray will not help! Then he leave the room to inform his manager.
5min later, the manager came without any proper introduction, I only found his name and position after I asked, so the problem is the hotel was fully book, and it seem like we have no choice but have to stay the that [--] smell hotel room. He admit that the smell is too bad but No solution has been given, no offer to move (unless we move out ourselves, I guess we would be fully charged). Apologies can't take the smell away, I am very sure! The manager offered a discount from $36 down to $31.5! What a thought!
So, I did it my way, see photos for my solution.
Next day, from breakfast to the time we check out, no body care about the problem anymore, no interaction from the staff nor manager, we paid, we go, nobody knows!

we stayed here for two nights. this hotel is great value for money and well-located. room size was decent enough. not too cramped and there is space to walk about even after opening luggages. There is a lift so no worry about heavy luggages. breakfast was alright. only comment is that I wished they provided bedroom slippers, not the rubber types. tv had good selection of channels. also there is a laundry shop directly opposite the hotel that charges $1.50 per kg so it is very convenient.

I think the buildings are undergoing renovation, we could hear knocking noises as early as 7.30am.

The Silver River Hotel is conveniently located near many restaurants, bars and other attractions. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are comfortable. Easy walking distance to many site such as the Royal Palace. The staff is very attentive and helpful and ready to help. The breakfast buffet wasn't the best, but they do cook eggs to order. There is also a loud bar nearby, which plays music quite loudly, which might be a consideration if you are a light sleeper. Even taking these last two point in mind, I would recommend this hotel to a friend for consideration.
