My wife and I stayed here on the basis of recommendations on this site. We were not disappointed! The inocuous facade hides a really unusual layout with an art gallery taking up most of the ground floor. Our room was very spacious and comfortable and spotlessly clean. The location was very quiet for somewhere relatively near the centre of the city, but if you want your tuk-tuk driver to find it tell him it is next to the Russian embassy as the street is tiny and hard to find. We were made very welcome and felt it was excellent value. We did not eat at the restaurant in the evening but the simple breakfast was very well presented. I would certainly recommend you consider it as somewhere a bit different and we will almost certainly stay there again in the future

We're travelling since 9 months so we really appreciated the home feeling we had as entered in the house. Room is very clean, comfy bed, design bathroom. The saff is just like a temporary family! We appreciated so much our stay there that we'll go back for our last night in Cambodia. Plus you're contributing to develop the school nearby. Plus you have a great "living room". It's simply perfect!

We stayed at the family room of the You Khin House with our kids in August 2012 and we realy loved it. It's a very beautifull house with splendid decoration, lot's of free space available to the guests and a warm atmosphere. The room was almost an appartment, with two bedrooms, a small kitchenette and a very good bathroom. Kids loved the pool, of course, we enjoyed the restaurant. The best part are the staff, they are so friendly and everything is arranged easily. We asked to book tickets to Siem Riep and it was done before we knew it.
The guest house is supporting the nearby school for disantvantaged children, wich is a great project. It's also nice to meet the volunteers and the children, especially because you can see they are doing a great job: these kids spreak better English than many adults around town, they play music and are realy enjoying life. So nice to see!

We really liked this place. It was a comfortable oasis, with a good food, a friendly staff and it supports a great cause. I'd give it a 4 or 5, but for the lack of hot water. The shower water is solar heated so expect to take a cold shower. It seems for a reasonable cost You Khin could add on-demand heaters to the showers (as we've had in most of Thailand). The only other downside is that it is in a bit of an odd location - down an alley in the embassy district. This means that there really isn't much particularly interesting in walking distance (places to eat, shop, etc.) It's a tuk-tuk whenever you want to go somewhere. (That being said only about $2 and the drivers supporting You Kihn are great.)

If you like to help NGO's and kids in particular, and you enjoy an arty soulful environment and want to be in a well-run clean place with no noisy pubs outside, and you love really great cuisine but want all this at an affordable price, you have just found it :)

As a result of my stay there, I'm now committed to help them to fundraise to build their new childrens' village school just outside Pnom Penh. Everyone there is like one big, kind happy family including the guests and international teaching volunteers. I don't believe one should travel Cambodia and profit from its kind and beautiful people and nature without giving something back to help rebuild the country that suffered such heinous treatment under the Khmer Rouge regime. Amazing how the people can still be so sweet and kind after suffering so much and living often in such poverty. Also amazing that they can survive on selling things so cheaply! At this guesthouse, the kitchen run independently by 4 women who also give Kymer cooking classes, a top meal is only 4,5 USD! I so loved my stay that I'm now committed to their cause and will be back next year. Hope the same happens to you as they need all the help they can get.

Room Tip: No 1 seems to be the best one :)

This delightful guesthouse funds the adjacent school and gives a unique insight into the lives of Cambodian children that are lucky enough to attend. Some of the older ones shared their heart rending and inspiring stories with us, our children joined in on swimming lessons and we were given Khmer lessons from an older student. We shared music and singing (instruments provided) and it was a magical experience. There is so much entertainment just at the guesthouse that offsets beautifully some of the other challenging sights of Phnom Penh. We were so touched by the experience that my 12 year old daughter and I have agreed to become Ambassadors of the school and fundraise to assist Miss Muoy in her dream of developing the school in an effort to provide education to more disadvantaged children as this is their ticket out of poverty.

It is our best reward to see our efforts acknowledged this way. Thank you for being our ambassadors. You are making our future more secure and bright. I am proud to see You Khin House become a meeting place of good willed people from all over the world. Soon we will partner with Caravan Angkor Tour to offer a package for concerned and philanthropist tourists called "Help Change the World" where they can experience what you have experienced and more. We will also open a pancake corner to raise fund to build our future school. Our staff, volunteers and students will be involved. If, as we hope, and when you come back, you and your daughter could lend a helping hand. On behalf of our children, thank you again with all my heart.
